Research Paper Tips

1.       Fix intro if you need to
2.       Remember:

a.       Start each of your body paragraphs with a clear TOPIC SENTENCE – this should relate to one of your three reasons from the thesis

b.      Use at least two pieces of support per paragraph

c.       When using a fact or quote, you need to introduce with a signal phrase, such as “According to…” or “Research suggests” etc

d.      Explain each fact and how you are using it – for every line/sentence of evidence, you should use 2 lines/sentences of your own as explanation

e.      CITE all facts, even the ones paraphrased – there should be two citations minimum per paragraph

f.        Drafts without citations will not be graded until citations are added – a paper without citations is a 0 (plagiarism)

  1. There are many things throughout my lifetime I would love to achieve. I have many career goals that I want to accomplish as I grow up. For example, I want to be a nurse. I want to be a nurse because I want to be that person who can save lives, and help people who are sick. I wanted to be a nurse since I was four and I was in the hospital. The nurses helped me feel better, and I would love to help people who are very sick feel better. After I graduate high school I would love to go to college, and look into nursing. I would have to get my bachelor’s degree in nursing, and then get an associate degree in nursing, and then I would have to complete a diploma program in a hospital. In the next five to ten years I picture myself just finishing college and being a nurse in a hospital that helps younger kids that have suffered with many problems and diseases. I picture myself this way because that’s the career I want to have and I hope that’s how it stays. To become a nurse I have many responsibilities but I plan on working hard to achieve what I want to do for the rest of my life, I would have to go to a good college that would teach and help me in the best ways possible. Also, I would have to get good grades and be a dedicated student if I want to succeed in my career.

In my own opinion I consider myself to be very social. I love to talk to everyone, teachers, my peers, my family, my classmates, or somebody that I barely even know. I am a “chatter box “and I love to socialize with anyone that wants to chat, and can hold a conversation. I am proud of a various amount of things, but most importantly I’m proud of how far I have come. I have had a few bumpy roads throughout all the times I have been in school, and I am proud that I have overcome almost everything and made the road smooth again. I used to have issues in getting my work done, and being proficient on the NJASK but in 8th grade I got all my work done on time and finally got proficient on my language arts portion on my NJASK. I am proud that I have come this far, and even further to come. In my free time there are many things I enjoy doing. For example, I like to play tennis, basketball, and do gymnastics. Also, I like to spend time with my friends and run around outside. I mostly like to do anything that involves being outside. The extracurricular activities I am involved in is tennis. I play tennis for the school, and I do gymnastics to. I have many different hobbies that I find fascinating. One of my hobbies is going gymnastics. I enjoy is because I like to get active, and just run around. I also play tennis. I just started this year but I find it enjoyable. One of my other hobbies is juggling. I find it relaxing and it’s unusual and unique.

    1. School is not my favorite six letter word but it’s not my least favorite. At times I do enjoy being in school, and I do enjoy doing certain things. My favorite thing about school is seeing my friends and doing fun activities. Not all school activities are fun but some can be quite enjoyable. I like to see my friends that I don’t see very often, and get the chance to talk to them. There is a few things I dislike about school, but there is one thing that I can’t stand 95% of the time. The school lunches. I find them to be revolting most of the time. I don’t hate the period because it’s the only time throughout the day I can have a decent conversation with my friends, but I’m not a fan if the lunches. Last year wasn’t the best year, but I have to say my favorite class was language arts. I had a very good teacher who taught me everything I needed to know and I had a fun year in that class. That class could be challenging but it was pretty fun.

My most recent language arts course was last year with Mrs. Stanley. My favorite book that I ever read was “Deep, dark, and dangerous” I liked this book because it was horror and I like horror books because there’s a lot of mystery. My least favorite book is “ sleeping freshmen never lie” we read this book last year in writing lab and I didn’t like it because it was boring and made me want to fall asleep. I like to read horror and mystery books because they get you into in and thinking. I like to learn about anything really.

If I could go anywhere I would go to Italy
I learn the most when the teacher guides me through my work
I learn the most when I’m interested in what’s happening
After high school I will probably go to college
My ideal job is to become a nurse
Three adjectives others might use to describe me are funny, weird, and talkative
My definition of language arts understanding reading and writing
