In preparation for the persuasive assignment, construct a response of a minimum of 2 paragraphs to the prompt below:
Should the high school cafeteria offer healthier options for students and staff? (Think about vegeterain options and consider personal restrictions on food) Please discuss and elaborate on at least 2 reasons for your point of view.

  1. even though school lunch is getting worse every year its more healthy for us and because lots of kids are becoming obease and having all types of medical problems. So the government has designed a way to keep all the kids in the U.S healthy by making all the food with less salt, sugar and whatever else makes food taste good. Now the food is bland and discusting and taste like plastic. By making the food more healthy less kids are eating in school because they just dont like the food. theres no point in making the food more healthy because if the kids dont eat at school they'll just go home and eat more junk food. There are some kids who dont mind eating healthy food because thats what they eat on a regular basis, so we should have seperate choices of food so that everyone can be satified. Thats my view of our new lunch.

  2. The school cafeteria should definitely include more lunch options for the students and staff. Often, the minorities such as vegetarians, those who can only eat kosher foods, and those with specific allergies are not thought about. Typically, theses people get a response of "just bring from home". Bringing lunch from home is good in itself however, no one should be excluded from the school lunches because certain options are not available. All of these people should be kept in mind when the school creates a new lunch plan. There are creative ways to offer several new meals that include the general population while allowing others to purchase a lunch from the school's cafe.

School has a great influence in any adolescents life. Even though it may not appear this way, so will the cafeteria lunch. If one teenager does not have good eating habits and has never been introduced to healthy foods, this is the time for them to experience this. Frankly, students who pay for lunch will eat what's on their plate and it is better to be feeding them healthy things than meals that are not healthy at all. If the cafeteria were to offer tasty and nutritious foods, some students might try them and actually enjoy them! The school cafeteria should definitely take a step to offer more of a variety of lunches keeping everyone in mind and promote healthier habits by providing nutritious and tasteful foods.

  3. Compared to past years, school lunches now are already providing healthier options for staff and students. They now have a bigger variety of foods like wraps, chili, and much more. They now even use whole wheat bread rather than white. So, the school has already made lunches healthier. However, more options could definitely be available for us. This will not only be a better diet for students, but also can help them open up to new foods.

Wherever you go, almost every food establishment is trying to offer healthier options to the public. Vegetarian options have been growing quite popular in certain restaurants. From past experience of being a vegetarian, the foods are one hundred percent better for your body. With all the soy and tofu cooked into these meals, they are not only tasty, but nutritious. I would say adding vegetarian options to the school menu would be a great idea. Studies show that students who have a healthier diet perform better in school than students who don’t get enough nutrients for their body. Also, to students who may have food restrictions, this gives the school an even bigger reason to provide different options. Instead of only serving one option to choose from each day, they could provide two or maybe even three options. This gives the student a variety to choose from and hopefully will work against their restrictions from food.

  4. The high school cafeteria should not offer healthier options, but there should be better choices for students and staff. The cafeteria now serves healthy foods, like sandwiches on whole wheat bread. However, some of these choices do not taste very good. There are healthy foods out there that would be delicious. Cooked vegetables, chilled fruit, and lots of other healthy, but good foods would be great. However, this school can barely afford books, so I don’t think that is going to happen. I understand that there will always be students who don’t like certain foods. But that could possibly be because they are not good foods. The cafeteria makes you take a fruit cup, but almost no one actually eats it. It is like all they care about is just following the rules. There are some great alternatives that aren’t against the law to feed children. I know that I wouldn’t eat the lukewarm fruit they serve us.
The school should take the time and money in order to get food that students will get excited for. I understand that they can’t be making three course meals, but they don’t try to make the students happy. I’m getting tired of the frozen foods that just get put straight into the oven. People don’t want the gross food they sell. It’s also a little overpriced. I mean really, do you expect me to pay two dollars and fifty cents for 3 chicken nuggets and a milk carton? It isn’t terribly overpriced, but maybe $2.10 would suffice. Some people may be vegetarians, and the school is basically forcing them to bring lunch, because we are busy serving meatball grinders. They do not need to find healthier choices, they have already done that. They just need to find more tasty choices.

  5. When it comes to high school lunches the majority of the people buying the food know that the lunches aren’t a big hit and they aren’t ensured something that tastes good and can be healthy at the same time. Already, from looking at the school lunches now they are already trying to make it healthier by using certain ingredients and sides such as fruits and vegetables that can be good for you. Although, while they are worrying about how healthy the lunch should be they’re missing another important factor, they have to make the food taste good as well as healthy. The cafeteria needs to know that when it comes to making food healthier everybody automatically thinks it’ll be not satisfying and some may find it where they can’t eat the lunch because of the taste, the look and even sometimes the way it smells. Therefore, we should try to make school lunch healthy but we must make it so that the food actually tastes good before we put the food out saying that that is the best our school can do.

So, once our school realizes that school lunch needs to be healthy and taste good they need to take the time out and find choices and types of food that the students and staff will eat. Whether it is finding ways to find the food they already sell taste better or find brand new foods in general to sell at lunch time. Everybody at lunch wants new food because the a lot of people from past years still find the school lunch to be unsatisfying so, the least our school cafeteria can do is take the time out to find some ways to make high school lunch more enjoyable.

  6. In my opinion I do think the cafeteria should have healthier. I personally think they should have foods that appeal to lactose intolerant. I myself am lactose intolerant, and at lunchtime when they are only serving milk I can't have anything to drink without having to pay an extra amount to get a water or juice. In addition, there are many allergies to nuts and all the snacks are unhealthy and most may contain nuts. Although not all of the snacks include nuts they are close together and that could send a student or teacher into anaphylactic shock. Finally, the lunches should be healthier for the people that have diseases like diabetes. The school shouldnt serve lunches with extreme amounts of sugar.
In addition many people are vegetarians and vegans and I believe there should be food choices that benifit both. Not being able to have school lunches would be disrespectful to these people and there choices. They may have a situation where they have to by lunch but they wont be able to eat because there is nothing there for them to choose from. If I put myself in their shoes I woulnd't be pleased with the school's decision. For these reasons I think the school should have healthier food choices to benefit everyone that attends our schools.

  7. When it comes to school lunches there should be healthier options for the students and the staff. For the past decade America has been suffering an obesity epidemic. The biggest problem is with our youth population because of the food they are eating is not healthy and they are consuming this food everyday which is the reason for why they are obese. Because of this, our school cafeteria needs to offer healthier options for the students and staff. By doing this, this can motivate students and staff to eat healthy out of school instead of just in school.
If students and staff are eating healthy in school then there is a good chance they will eat healthy at home. For example, if a student is given the option to eat a fruit or vegetable then they might go home and eat the same. Instead of now where students and staff are eating fatty fried foods in school they might eat McDonald's or some other fast food at home. If students are eating fast food all the time then they will gain weight and become overweight which is why our school cafeteria needs to have healthier options for the students and the staff.

  8. The school cafeteria should include more lunch options for the students and staff. The cafeteria has good meals already, but they could use more stuff that students would actually eat. They need to make the food look better by adding new ingredients to it. The cafeteria now uses new type of food that would make the students healthier. However, more options could definitely be available for us as students. It would make students eat more and enjoy what they are eating.
In conclusion, the students and staff in our school, would like to have more options, more fruits to eat and new ingredients that will make then get healthier. Also they could add more vegetables and fruits for us to eat. it wpuld also help some students to lose weight and stay healthy. The staff and the student would be great full to have that for lunch.

  9. The school cafeteria should offer the high school healthier foods. In my point of view we do have a few healthy food selections, but not all of it is healthy. With healthier foods being served at lunch perhaps more kids would buy the lunch. Also, if there was a bigger variety of different kind of foods that were healthy. With a bigger variety, certain people with health restrictions could possibly buy the school lunch now. It could be beneficial towards the school and the students and staff.

With healthier foods, creates happier kids. Of course the not so healthy foods tastes better, but the healthier stuff is helping your body. All the nutrients is always helpful to a kid who's growing. I think the school should consider how the kids feel about their lunches. Healthier lunches seems like the right way to go.

  10. Each year, the lunch at school has gotten worse. The main focus of school lunch is to be healthier. I myself have no objection to having healthier foods available for students, but the food that our schools offer are not the right choice of healthy. In fact, the food is not very desirable. The choice of going healthy is right, but the availability and choices of foods aren’t. If the food had the option to change anything about the meals offered for lunch, it should be the type of food rather than the healthiness. Students are required to take a cup of fruit with their lunch, but more than half throw it away without even touching it. The cafeteria staff should offer better types of fruit like apples, bananas, oranges, and the like. Instead of throwing away the whole piece of fruit, only the peel will be thrown out.
Students who are vegetarians, have allergies, and are picky are not always treated fairly when it comes to school lunches. Sometimes, a cup of yogurt is not very filling. Students and teachers should be offered the choice of having a salad for lunch or more sandwich choices. Not everyone enjoys the lunches that are provided by the cafeteria staff. Everyone’s eating situations should be taken into consideration and have different types of foods offered for them. The school cafeteria should be able to please it’s customers with the lunches serve. Although healthy is the main focus, desirable lunches should also have an equal amount of attention as well.

  11. The school cafeteria should offer healthier options for lunch. Right now, the options are not very nutritional for a developing mind. The options are inconsiderate to people's preferences or beliefs. For example, if a student or staff was vegetarian, their options would be few. Possible choices for lunch would be yogurt, a muffin, or a bagel on many days of the week. Perhaps a person is a vegan; their choices would be slim to none. This would leave the person to bring food or go hungry. a belief issue would be if a person ate Kosher food. To my knowledge, the school does not offer Kosher options.

Another issue would be people with allergies. Many people are lactose intolerant, which forces them to have nothing to drink, or pay extra money to purchase a juice or water bottle. It is a rare occurrence that juice is offered as part of a full lunch. Also, people are allergic to nuts. Although not many lunches contain nuts, it is inconsiderate to those with allergies. A third reason why school lunches should be healthier is to help with the obesity problem. America is battling a problem that could change the future. If schools take the initiative to serve healthier food, it could kick start the change. Many people would argue that the lunchroom staff does try to serve healthier options by forcing students to leave the serving station with a milk and fruit, but most of the fruit finds a home in the trash. Overall, the school should make an effort to serve more nutritious and healthy foods to benefit the students and staff.

  12. In my opinion the cafeteria should offer healtier food. From how the food was nasty before they have improved in a way and they do serve somewhat healthy food but it could always be better. One of the biggest problems is the quality of the food, while it is kind of healthier now the quality of the food we are served just sucks. For example, it is not that hard to notice how the chicken on the patties are basically made from compressed different pieces of chicken, how some of the pieces of salads are oldish looking, and how our "so healthy food" are dipped a pool of grease. The food needs to be improved for everyone one not just the students.

Another problem is how there's a small variety of food to choose from we usually get served the same refrigerated from the two days ago and warmed up food and then sometimes it is serve it for like a day or two straight. We should have a bigger variety and options to choose from. Like what if someone is a vegetarian, or if someone just doesn't like whatever is being served on that day. Overall while the healthiness and varieties has kind of improve, it is not good enough yet.

  13. The high school cafeteria should offer healthier food options for the students and staff. Now our own high school cafeteria has already tried to incorporate healthier food options, but has forgotten the importance of quality. Although the food may be healthier, they definitely don’t taste better. I believe the high school cafeteria should not just only offer healthier options, but also better tasting lunch options. If the cafeteria continues to serve unattractive foods to the students and staff that leaves them no option to either not eat lunch at all, which I have done a numerous amount of times time, or to just bring lunch from home, which isn’t always the greatest either. I feel, as a student, that for lunch we are really running out of options.

A well-balanced healthy lunch will ensure that students have plenty of energy for the remainder of the school day. It is better to have healthier, filling food options because students can’t focus on being hungry when they need to be focused on learning. I also believe that the cafeteria could offer vegetarian foods for those who choose to be. I could see why the cafeteria doesn’t offer vegetarian food to the students only because people don’t usually make those types of decisions until alter on in life, but it would make more sense to offer those foods to the staff. Overall the high school cafeteria options can defiantly start to offer more option for the students and staff.

  14. Our cafeteria serves us great lunches from time to time. We need better lunches for the students to actually eat in school. Some kids this year stated to bring their own lunch because, the lunches are so bad. Such as, taco salad and buffalo chicken pizza. Dunellen high school used to have decent lunches last year. Last year we use to get fried chicken ones a week and taco salad on Tuesdays. Everybody this year is talking about how bad the lunches are this year. We use to have while break on our chicken sandwich and now we have wheat break. I personally like the white bread. It taste better and it’s satisfying us the students.
It’s a healthier decision to have wheat bread because, is high in protein but, we already eat lots of protein in all the other food that we eat. Such us, the bagels we get in the morning for breakfast, the cream cheese, and the little cup of fruit. Fruits are high in protein and healthy natural resources. I like how our school is influencing us to eat some fruit after our lunch meal. It’s a healthier decision the Board of Education made for us students.

  15. I'm not going to lie. Our schools lunches are disgusting. They say " healthy is the way to be," but it comes to a point where being TOO healthy, is gross. The school seems to only think there’s one solution to making food healthier for students, and that is to make everything whole wheat. Now, not all whole wheat foods are gross but the cafeteria’s making food that’s supposed to be enjoyable, not enjoyable. The school can prepare more appetizing, and delicious meals without the use of whole wheat items. For example , the school can add in a salad bar with a variety of toppings and dressing. Many people in DHS love salads and I’m sure if we added a salad bar, it would attract a ton of attention.

Despite the changes in food this year it is imperative that kids, especially our age gain a healthy and well-balanced diet. For most of us here at the DHS, we are participating in sports. Wheather it be Cross Country, Football, Soccer, Basketball, or Softball it is critical to obtain a healthy diet for our athletic performance to reach full potential. Athletes most often use energy drinks and bars to help their overall game time performance. Energy drinks, such as Five Hour Energy, can spike your metabolism for a good 2-3 hours, but later makes you crash. Instead of using unnatural supplements to gain energy, I think the school cafeteria should offer more appetizing fruits and vegetables. They do offer a few fruits but, they aren't too appetizing. Most of the time they're dried out, gross, and crusty. Overall, I think if the cafeteria offers more delicious fruits and vegetables, then maybe athletes will be more inspired to take on a healthier diet.

  16. Our school lunch serves really bad food. Our foods consists on the same thing every week such as, sandwiches, hamburgers and salads. Not only we get the same foods we also get less of it. Last year we got a good portion od food. But now the food we get barely makes us say "were full." Also the little food we get cost alot of money. We get charged $2.50 per plate. Because of this students start bringing lunch from there houses. So the outcome of this is that the school is getting less money. The less money the school gets means the less stuff we can do in school. I personally think we shouldtry to serve better food so students start to pay for lunch again.

A healthier decision for our school lunch would give us more fruit cups. Fruit give you energy to start and finish your day. They also help you have you creative juices flowing. So during a test you can make the right decisions.

  17. Thanks, Michelle Obama. Thanks for making nasty lunches with "Under 500 calories!". Thanks for taking away a pretty 'ok' lunch system. School lunches were no problem, though we may have encountered a few "bouncy weiners",or some black chicken, school lunches have progressively gotten worse. They obviously were not "unhealthy", but they were debatable. No one can keep going though the day with these lunches, as we pay $0.25 more, but we still get the same amount, and now less. We could obviously get "unhealthy" food, yet filling food.
Another think that is grody in the cafeteria is the fact that we are required to take fruit, yet it's all gone to waste. If we didn't take it, we're obviously not going to eat it. They need a trash bin JUST for de-composite waste. People are starving in soup kitchens, while they are basically forcing us to throw away food. No one is forced to eat it, therefore no one will if they don't want to. Thanks again, Michelle Obama. This woman is basically making people less fortunate starve while we are not eating what is theirs. Let's get some healthy food, but let's make it good and filling. Bake, don't fry food, nor burn it. Let's make a healthier, yet delicious lunch!

  18. There is nothing wrong with the cafeteria trying so serve us healthier food. Students may not like it but the state is only doing it thinking of our health, even if students think its crappy food. Although it could use more variety, but one step at a time.

Even though the food they serve now is healthier they have to accept the fact that some people's reaction are going to be different from others. Some might actually appreciate the fact that the food is healthier since they might not eat healthy foods at home. Some might despise the idea that they're trying to tell them what to eat and what not to eat. But at the end its beneficial because it helps students in a way to eat healthier and choosing whats right for them.

  19. I believe that our school’s cafeteria food needs to be healthier for students and staff. Making healthy food requires two important things. Healthy food needs to have nutritional ingredients, as well as decent portion sizes. Due to the ongoing problem of child obesity most schools have been cutting down on the junk food in school lunches. However, they are also cutting down on portion sizes. This in itself only creates more problems. Even though the food is “healthy,” it is not making a huge impact on a student’s life because it barely fuels the students for the rest of their day! By the time the school day ends, students go home and just pig out on food. Nine out of ten times they are not going home and having a big plate of celery.

In addition, the school lunches should have a healthier variety. After a while, students get tired of having chicken nuggets every Wednesday and pizza every Friday. If it was possible, the cafeteria should change up their menus, adding new healthy choices. (Preferably food that will fill a student for the whole day). Or, if they can’t change the menus, at least change the side orders that would taste good with the main lunch. For instance, instead of serving peaches with chicken nuggets, they could serve corn or even carrots. By making these changes, I’m sure that both students and teachers will enjoy the lunches a little bit more.

  20. Cafeteria food is one of the main things that should be improved upon at our high school. Over the years, the food has gotten worse and worse for our taste buds, but has also gotten better and better for our health. The menu selections sound appetizing, but the food itself is bland, under/over cooked, and tasteless. For instance, the meat is burnt, the cooked vegetables are dry; the list goes on and on. The food even lacks basic seasoning and texture. The food at our cafeteria is simply unappealing, and should be improved on right away. Therefore, the high school cafeteria should not offer students and staff healthier options, but should make the existing options taste and look better.

Another reason the high school shouldn’t offer a healthier menu is because it is already healthy enough. When the menu options switched to healthier foods, the student and staff consumers turned it down. For instance, the lunch ladies now force us to take a milk and fruit cup with our hot lunch, which are thrown in the trash anyway. This daily routine made less people buy the unattractive cafeteria food, and resort to packing a homemade lunch, where they know it’s real and okay to eat. Therefore, making a healthier menu backfired on the cafeteria, since they lost customers, wasted fruit, and got students and staff annoyed with their choice.

In conclusion, the high school cafeteria shouldn’t offer healthier options. They tried it already, and it backfired by losing customers, angering students, and wasting food. To improve cafeteria, they can simply make the food better looking, and tasting, rather than resorting to the gross healthy food choices.

  21. Let’s be honest, every year more and more kids are becoming overweight, some to a very dangerous size. As weight and diet continue to be an ongoing issue throughout our society, I think it is very important for the school to offer a healthier and food selection as well as more variety to the food selection. Things like fresh salads, fruits, and even reduced fatty foods that all kids love would be a great place to start introducing kids on a healthier lifestyle. However, this does not mean the lack of quality in the food; healthy doesn’t always have to mean tasting bad.

In addition, schools should serve more variety and a healthier choice of food in order to keep kids focused in school. I’m sure we can all agree that trying to focus on an empty stomach is nearly impossible. We all look forward each day to our lunch period to get a break and for most of us, finally something in our stomach. These selections should be good, healthy, filling foods that are going to power us through the day and give us enough fuel and energy to perform the best they can at every task they may take on. More variety would motivate more students to have a well-balanced meal in the middle of the day, every day.

  22. The high school should definitely have healthy meal options for all of us students. America is greatly affected by obesity, especially our generation. When it comes to vegetables verse fast food, most of us teenagers will choose the greasy fast food. So, school is the one place where we don't have a choice of what we eat, because it's whatever the cafeteria serves. With this, it's an opportunity to be served healthy foods, which is exactly why it should be done.

Our school cafeteria is substituting white bread with everything whole grain, regular fries for sweet potato fries, and unhealthy sides for vegetables/fruits. Eating these healthy substitutes will eventually create an impact on student's everyday diet. At home, hopefully kids will start putting down the potato chips, and eating some healthy snacks. These changes at school will catch on to kids and make them fix their bad eating habits overtime. The school developing healthier food is definitely a smart idea.

  23. My perspective on this topic is that we should serve all vegetarian food. This way, neither vegetarians nor normal eaters will complain. This is because vegetarian food is edible for normal eaters and vegetarians. Also, people that are picky with their food can get fruit and vegetables. The vegetarian food can look and be titled normally but they will really be composed of healthier substances. Also, if our food could be in less of portions, than it would prevent obesity. If our administrators would let us out during lunch for a game or recess, then that would also let us get exercise in gym and lunch, while getting lesser portions.

This topic is very debatable although I believe that this would be a good opportunity to fight the obesity crisis. Our nation is suffering from this problem and we can fix it with effort. Another point on this issue is that we can serve normal (non vegetarian) food but healthier. We could also serve fruits and vegetables to vegetarians and people that are allergic to certain foods. All together it is a good idea to serve healthy foods to a country in need of a better diet.

  24. The high school cafeteria should serve healthy food because our generation is becoming more obese by the day. There are two key things needed in order to make healthy foods. First and foremost, the quality of food is important. This is hard when the cafeteria staff is on a small school budget. The quality really depends on where they purchase the meat or frozen foods. It is possible for a healthy, cheap and good tasting food company to be out there. The school and cafeteria staff just has to look hard enough. When the food tastes good students won’t know that it is healthy or not. Most students get turned off by food just because they know it’s good for them. With the quality of the food and the healthy taste, it’s better for everybody.

In addition, when the taste of healthy food is so gross and people usually don’t want to eat it. If the cafeteria staff could figure out a way to make healthy foods taste delicious than students and staff will be more happy. When the taste or look of something is disgusting people will not want to even touch it. The students are complaining about the taste so they will just throw it away and go home and over eat on junk food, which results in obesity. If the school food tastes great and looks great students and staff will eat it and they most likely will be full until dinner time. Hopefully, the better the taste and the quality will keep students and staff healthier and happier. The school cafeteria needs new food, but the food has to be health so we can lower children obesity.

  25. My opinion on this topic is that Dunellen high school should serve healthy food for several reasons. One people need to get in shape, two a lot of people are unhealthy, three there is a lot of obesity in United States. A lot of people need to get in shape on our school is because some people are overweight, or just not eating all of the vitamins they need. Everyone should at least eat something healthy each day is good for physical activities. If you eat healthy and play a sport it helps u a lot. For example there’s no way in the world that you’re going to do good let’s say in a soccer game if you just ate two double cheeseburgers and large fries.
Secondly, a lot of people are unhealthy that means they don’t eat all the vitamins they need. For example if u eat junk food more than twice a week that means you’re not getting all the vitamins you need. That means you can get really sick. Also, we need to eat healthy because a lot of people in the school are overweight or obese not to often any one. But there are a lot of people over weight. And by eating healthy is one way you can stop getting overweight, what if you try the food and u like it even thought is healthy food you like it now, so now you start eating healthy food and stop gaining weight

  26. The Dunellen High School cafeteria should most definitely offer healthier options for both students and staff members. Although several people may disagree with my opinion, others might understand where I am coming from. First of all, students and teachers would all become more nutritious and healthy because of what they are fed during school hours. A ton of people in the world eat food that can harm their health both internally and externally (physically). When being offered healthier food choices, compared to before, the students and staff would become more nutritious. It is important for people to eat these types of foods no matter how unpleasant they may taste to one’s self.

In addition, being offered healthier options can lead to many outcomes. For example, it may lead to a person changing their personal, everyday diet. If a teacher starts to get used to the way in which their school provides them with food, he or she might possibly start to eat similar types of food on a regular basis. Students could most definitely be affected in this way as well. This could help with the health of the teacher and children throughout their lifetime. Once students and staff members realize that their health is a major part of their life, they might consider eating the healthy food provided in school cafeterias.

  27. The high school cafeteria should definitely make our lunches healthier. The problem is “they” think by making school lunches healthier they would just add a salad or some fruit but is that food even “real”? If they want to give us healthier food it should be actual healthy food, but food that is cooked properly, taken care of, and most definitely not being prepared in the cheapest way possible. So many people want to complain about today’s kids and their diet, yet no one wants to put in the effort or money in making a change. I understand it may cost more money, but it is for the sake of the students right? For example, having cut up peaches drained and soaked in water for hours is not so appetizing. Yes, it is fruit but what does the word “fruit” mean if it cannot even be fresh? Not only should we make our lunches healthier but also to know not to take the highway when wanting healthier foods.
Have you ever heard of the quote, “You are what you eat”? Well its safe to say, for the most part this is true. Eating fatty foods or food that is not rich in nutrients will slow you down. If students wish to bring in unwise choices of food to school, let that be their decision, but the school itself, should offer the choice of giving a healthy meal so no one could ever complain it was never provided. For the most part, students will have classes after lunch and nothing is worse then having to work and feeling down or disgusting because of what you just ate. It may very well way down a student in the sense they will not be motivated to do work or pay attention. On the other hand, having healthier food will enhance a child’s focus and keep them on a straight line. Also, many kids are athletes that have sports after school. Usually kids go straight to their practice or game so what their body is really depending on, is the food they last ate which would be lunch. The same thing goes for sports. You will not have any motivation to run a mile when all you have is junk food in your stomach rather then a fruit or salad. What you eat does have a big impact on how you act and feel. These are a couple reasons why we should have healthier food in our cafeteria.

  28. The school cafeteria should have more options for students and staff. The school's cafeteria has good lunches, but they can use more than the regular ones. They need to make the food look better by making other foods. Such as, Asian foods, southwestern, or from South America. There are not a lot of school lunches to pick. There’s only the regular lunch, salad, or a sandwich.
In conclusion, the students and staff would like to have more international school lunches. Also, more fruits and vegetables to eat. Our school always eats the old same thing from kindergarten. So we should make a change and be international with school lunches. Have more tacos salad or have sushi, but healthy. It would keep students happy of buying food and stay healthy.

  29. Okay, lets take a good look at people around us, wiether we go to the city, school or especially the beach. People now a days are getting any skinner. You have to fix problems before they get out of control, or become a bad habits. Start at the core, where kids and teen spend most of there life time; school. School lunches, should be healthier.
Even though school lunches are healthier, they should taste good!. Why? well not eatting also not healthy, which actually just as bad , as being dangerously over weight. I think school should have tastey healthy lunches, not only high school. The restriction of soda sold in school, is actually a bad choice, because soda gases can actually help you out, with headaches and stomachaches. Another issue and last would be , french fries! For example Dunellen Schools have changed , from normal fries, to sweet potato fries. First of all its taste horrible and most of the time it ends up in the garbage. Fact is Regular potatos have more portein that sweet potatos, and better fiber. In conclution, schools should have better healthier lunches. That people would eat.

  30. I do not think the school should have to offer more food choices for several reasons. One of the main reasons I think the school should not have to offer more lunches is because it is to expensive. I would like new food in the cafeteria but I would rather have new books so I could learn more because if we send the money the food it takes money away from the school and education. Another reason is the food is already good so why change something if people like it.
In conclusion, I’m sure the students and staff would like new food but it’s just not affordable for are school. It also takes away from the education because the money being used for the food takes away from the school buying new books which we need. Also why change the food if people like it.

  31. I believe that a healthy meal is always good, but if it isn't cooked right then it should not be served. The healthy food should be optional because someone could be allergic to the meal that is selected. If we were to serve something with peanuts for lunch and there is no other option, then someone who is allergic to it would have no lunch for the day and would be hungry. I feel as though that the cafeteria should always have a second option open. I believe that the students and staff would appreciate the healthiness of the meal though.
Another reason why it is not good is if the person is a vegetarian. This restricts a lot because most of the foods that are served have some type of meat in them. Some people also have food restrictions involving their religion. For instance, they cant eat pork or chicken. All in all, the school should offer healthier choices, but should always have a second option.
