All communities, rather large or small, have laws and expectations when it comes to the behavior of the members. Rules and laws are meant to keep order and peace in the community, and to ensure the safety of as many members as possible. Some countries have laws that promote equality of individuals while others purposely prefer a hierarchical structure where benefits depend on a person’s position and contribution to the community.
Think about the laws and rules we have in the United States and in Dunellen High School. If you could change or abolish a law/rule (either at the federal, state, or school level) what law/rule would it be? Make sure to provide an explanation of your choice (min of 2 paragraphs). How do you see the law/rule harming people? What would changing or abolishing this law/rule change about the community? How would we be better without this law/rule? What do you suggest as an alternative to this law/rule.

Rules are made to help things run smoothly and allow people to know that they do have freedom, but they cant go crazy and do things that isn’t right. But there are many rules that were created inside our country, working areas, and schools that do need to be reconsidered. One of the, being the cell phone rule. There are many reasons why this rule should be reconsidered. One of them being that accidents happen, and people should always be prepare for emergencies. Our school and faculty have explained to the students that if they is a personal problem, then parents and outsiders will have to contact the office. But they never explain to use what will happen if there is a more serious situation such a fire, or a school shooting. In these type of cases there is no time to go to the office to make a phone call. Students should be allowed to have their phones for in school for these reasons.
Another reason why students should have cell phones in school because it allows them to be safe in school, but it allows them to be safe after school. Many students have to walk to and from school and even though it they leave aren’t in the school building during this time, if something happens to do them, they are consider under the schools responsibility. It is at times like this no one can assure a students safety. If kid gets kidnapped or lost then they need to have a way to contact someone. Obviously if they have their with the, walking to and from school, then they need to be able to have it in school, and shouldn’t be punished if it falls out of goes off by accident. Not only that but many teachers recommend that students leave their cell phones in their locker, but having a cell phone and not having it with you cant assure your safety at all times. Students should be allowed to have their phones in school.
Yeah I agree with you I feel like cell phones should be allowed in school. The reasons you used are good, I would feel safer in school with my cell phone on me. Anything could happen if an emergency would occur I would be able to call anyone by just going into my pocket.

ReplyDeleteA rule I would change in school is the ability to listen to music. This rule is not really harming people but it could help some people. For example when I am at my house and I am doing homework I always listen to music. I do not know what is but I always do my work better and quicker than when I am just sitting trying to do my homework. So I feel that I would get more work done in school. I am also sure I am not the only one that feels like this.
Yeah I understand why it cannot be allowed in school. It is because if it would be allowed students would not be able to listen to the teacher or just ignore the teacher. But what could be done is that only one earbud can be plugged in. Also it can only be plugged in if individual work is being done and the teacher is not giving a lesson. Us as a school could give it a try and if grades are dropping then the rule could be abolished.
There are many school rules I would change, but one that I feel stands out is the headphones out and hats/ hoodies. This law is annoying to many students. The headphones hanging out are just a habit for some students because they listen to music on their way to school and once they arrive at school they just leave them to hang. This bothers students when they are told to put them away because they aren’t using them and they aren’t doing any damage to anybody. Of course if this rule is abolished more and more students will hang headphones hanging but this doesn’t mean they are listening to music. I would say that without this rule we won’t be yelled at just for having a pair of headphones out when music isn’t even playing through them. An alternate for this rule should be no music playing doing class unless you are on the computers or the teacher isn’t talking. Students should be able to listen to music while walking in the hallways. Nothing wrong with a song before entering class. Some people listen to music as a boost in confidence. So maybe you should be allowed to listen to music in the hallways, but not in class while a teacher is teaching.
ReplyDeleteAnother rule I would change is the hoodie/ hat rule. I honestly don’t see what’s wrong with wearing either one. Some kids wear them when walking to school and they find it dumb that they have to take it of once in school. If this rule were to change then I’m sure a lot more students would wear hoodies/ hats. Especially now in this weather. Some students with short hair get cold and their ears so wearing a hoodie keeps them warm. Nothing wrong with staying warm. You should be allowed to wear a hoodie/ hat as long as you’re not fooling around with it. That should be the alternate rule.
There are so many rules that this country has. For example the rule that says it is illegale that you drink or smoke bellow the age of 20-21 years of age. This is to stop teenages and children from hurting themselves, there bodies and there freinds. The other rule is that You can not drink and drive which saves countless lives a year and teaches those that get caught never to drink and drive again unless they want to be thrown in jail or kill a nother inausent person. There is are many rules that protect the citizen of this great nation. There is just one that I myself thinks should be changed. The rule is that you can not drive until you reach the age of 18 years of age, even though you can get your permit when you turn 16.
ReplyDeleteI think the rule should state that you get your permit at 15 years of age and you can drive legally at 17-and older this could help teenagers everywere in this country. For example you can get a job at the age of 16 but you have to have transportation to get you there. As of right now at 16 you can only get your perpit and at 17 you can drive but you have to have an adult 20 or older in the car.If the law was changed you would see a bunch mor 16-17 year olds getting a job which would help this economy and this nation because there are all these places looking for young people to work these jobs and not old adults because they want more physically stronger young adults that can lift boxes in the stock room. Secondly if these teenager's parents need something at the store the 17 year old can pick it up for them while there out instead of the parents waisting gas by going to the store and getting it them selves. This is the only rule I think that should be changed.

ReplyDeleteRules/laws are meant to be followed and if not, they can lead to some serious consequences such as ending up in prison, fined, and consequences from parents such as a punishment. One rule that I think should be changed is homeschooling a child by a parent. Going to a school is much better than being homeschooled because the teachers have their degree from college and can guarantee a great education in students. Just think, being taught by your own parents when maybe you’re not getting the right information needed to grow in knowledge? When homeschooled yes you can learn some stuff but going to school you are experiencing the outside world/reality and making friends who help you out in hard times.
The parent who is homeschooling their child might not even know if they’re teaching the right information to their child because they don’t have the same experience in teaching such as a teacher who went through college and knows their subject. When in school I can guarantee a parent that their child is receiving the right kind of education needed to move on in life and be successful. Take our parents for example, they have chosen the decision to make us go to school to earn the right kind of education and not be homeschooled. Our parents want what is best for us that is why they know school is the opportunity to learn, develop, and mature.
I agree with you Edwin, homeschooling should not be allowed in certain situation of course. Homeschooling should only be allowed to students who aren't physically able to go to school. Other than that all students should go to school because it is a place for students to express there feelings and make friends.

I believe that the rule that a student has 3 minutes before being late to class should be changed. I think personally that this is not enough time, if a student was alone in the hall getting to their next class it would be enough time, but not with everyone in the halls. Most of the time there are just older students just hanging around, and just lingering in the halls as if they pay rent. They really get in the way, because for some reason, they feel the need to run around and literally yell at the top of their lungs just because their friends are around. Also, sometimes, but not all the time, our books and belongings fall and disperse everywhere, and it takes time to gather it up, and then we become late, so this happens over and over, and students then get written up just because of accidents that aren't always preventable.
Another thing really gets on my nerves about getting to class on time. Sometimes, students take long in their previous class, and get to their next class late with a pass, but the teacher doesn't accept it. To me, this is totally draconian, why wouldn't the teacher accept the pass, the student is late, but is prepared with a pass that will excuse his tardiness. But some teachers won't accept it, isn't the pass meant to excuse tardiness? I've witness this happen numerous times to numerous students, they come to class a little late with a pass, and the teacher literally says to them, " I am not accepting this." This is totally unfair and it should be dealt with.
I totally agree with you on the one. I've noticed that a lot too. It makes no sense why a teacher doesn't except a late pass, the student has it for a reason and to have the teacher not except it, it's ridiculous.
DeleteLaws are placed upon people to keep them under control an make sure they do not kill or harm others. In school rules are placed so that adults can keep students from doing ignorant things. But some school rules are completely unnecessary. If I could abolish one school rule it would be the school classes that are required throughout a students high school career. Students are required to take English, Math, Science and History throughout high school. I feel that students shouldn't have to take some of these classes after 8th grade. If students are interested in a subject they could take that class. Students are forced to go to boring and not interesting classes. This rule change would excite students about school and learning about what they want. Students could excel At their subjects instead of struggling to pass.
ReplyDeleteBy changing this rule the lives and minds of the learning can grow and excel in their subjects. Instead of dreading an upcoming assignment they will research their topic and have it done quickly instead of procrastinating. The alternative rule that I would create is A student does not have to take all required classes such as English, Science, History and Math, a student may take these classes if desired.
While you do bring up a few good points (such as students procrastinating work in classes they don't like) it is still necessary to have these classes. If not, then students would not get the best education possible, as math and science are a crucial part of the real world. Without them, we wouldn't have the things we have today. The law states that a student must be in school for at least 7 hours on a weekday, and there are only so many other classes you can take if we were to get rid of those three classes.
DeleteWell, what an interesting topic we have for this blog. If there was one rule/law I would change, it would be the No Child Left Behind Act. In my opinion, it is one of most idiotic rules that have ever been thought of by the U.S. Department of Education. What reason could they have had to make such a rule? For those of you who don’t know what this act is, it is the rule that made us take standardized testing, give us report cards, have teacher qualifications, and let students that are failing move on to the next grade. Yes, I did do my research. Now, don’t get me wrong, the entire rule isn’t wrong. I personally agree with having report cards as well as having qualifications for teachers. I care about education and want to learn a lot so I can excel in the real world. What I don’t like is the standardized testing and students being able to pass a grade without actually “passing”. At first, the No Child Left Behind Act sounded great. The point of it was to bring student’s grades up and when they took standardized testing, all he students would get “proficient”. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way, did it? Our grade still has some people that get below proficiency, and it’s already 2014. The Act said that all states were required to bring all students to “proficient”. As shown by our grade, the Act did not work as well as it supposed to.
ReplyDeleteThe other part of this rule that I want to talk about is allowing students to move to the next grade without passing. Thanks to this, students that have trouble at school are moving on to the next level. This should not be allowed, as it can ruin their future. If one keeps failing, then he will begin to lose confidence in themselves and eventually not try in school at all. If I were to change this rule, I would make so that only kids that have trouble in school need to take standardized test and that you should have mastered certain things in certain subjects in order to move on to the next level.
Eric, I agree with you. I totally see where you're coming from with the whole report cards and teacher qualifications. In my perspective I think that almost everyone wants to have a great future. Then again I do think that it's a little stupid to have standardized testing, one it takes so much time away from the day and it's pointless to those who don't need it. And of course students shouldn't be pushed onto the next grade level because if they go onto the next grade and they are behind most of the students in their learning ability then they will start to feel left behind and like they can't keep up with the other kids. Great love your topic!
DeleteI completely agree that the No Child Left Behind sounds great at first but, turns out to be an idiotic idea. I find unfair for all students. You have the students who fail yet, are allowed to advance to the next grade. They would struggle in the next grade because they wouldn’t understand the material as well. Then you have the other students who would see no point in doing their work at the best of their ability because in the end, all the work they do wouldn’t matter.
DeleteIn the Ten Amendments of the United States, it states that all people have the right to bear arms which means that all people should be allowed to have guns. However, people are beginning to abuse this law and now many children are learning to shoot guns such as BB guns. The Urban Dictionary defines a BB gun as a weapon or gun that shoots plastic or small metal pallets. It is usually used by kids or teens trying to look tough. Most of them look like real guns so it can be used for bluffing. BB gun laws vary in each state. Some states restrict BB guns, while others have few or no restrictions. I believe that all states should have restricted laws against BB guns because they are very dangerous to children.
ReplyDeleteLarry Elder once said, “This battle for 'common-sense' gun control laws pits emotion and passion against logic and reason. All too often in such a contest, logic loses. So, expect more meaningless, if not harmful, 'gun control' legislation. Good news - if you're a crook.” As this quotes states, people think that it is common sense to use guns which is teaching the younger generation that it is okay to use guns and they then want to learn to shoot. Parents then give children BB guns and they can seriously hurt themselves. Has anyone seen “A Christmas Story”? It’s about a boy named Ralphie who wants a BB guns for Christmas and when he gets it, he almost shoots his eye out. This is real problem in society. In March of 2013, a ten year old boy in Frostproof, Florida died after his older brother accidently shot him in the head with a BB gun at close range. Of course guns can be used for self-defense if someone attacks you but, there should be nationwide restrictions on kids firing guns. They should be at an older age such as 16 if they want a BB gun and their parents must have possession of it when the their child isn’t using the gun at a shooting range. This way there will be fewer incidents of children hurting themselves and others when firing a gun.
I see your point as a clearly thought out, and well delivered argument. I like the quote you used, and your reference to a classic movie. Also, I do agree with you that, although guns should be allowed to citizens, there should be a restriction for children.

ReplyDeleteNew Jersey is an unique state, in good ways, and in bad ways. However, there is one way we’re distinguished from the other states that’s just unnecessarily New Jersey is the only state where you cannot pump your own gas. Okay, there is really only one good reason why this, and that would be to create more jobs. However, these jobs don’t even pay that well, but effectively manage to take even more money out of our wallets. Gas is already expensive as it, there is really no reason to add upon that.
Furthermore, this really doesn’t benefit society. From us having attendants, what we get is a lot of extra time tacked on to our visit to a gas station (generally) due to workers taking their sweet old time. Meanwhile, we, the customers, are stuck waiting, anxious to get to where ever we need to go, be it appointments or whatever. To fix our situation, we need to just simply erase the law that requires gas station attendants. The companies and the customers would all save money, and the employees could always find other means of employment. In short, we’d all be better off if we simply pump our gas, like the rest of America.
Zach, you brought up a good point in us choosing to pump gas ourselves. Anyplace at anytime there could be an emergency and we have to hurry to where it's happening, we can't wait and let valuable time pass by because of these gas workers taking there time. Well chosen topic and great job.

DeleteI think people should follow the rules at all times because it will keep us from getting trouble and be respectful to the environment and people around us. The laws are a good idea because this will keep things organized and maintain a safe country. The rules for school there are some things that would be change but in the other hand some are pretty good because this will prepare us for the far most strict laws.
ReplyDeleteThere are many rules that I would change in the school rule. One will be the dress code. This is America we can wear whatever we want because it's a freedom country and I think it's pretty dumb that they aren't letting us wear what we want. When we wear something that represents as who we are. We don't want to be original and dress as how we like. Pajamas are really comfortable, for girls if they want to wear those tank tops let them wear one because its a public school a public school should let us wear what we want. That's how people define us. It isn't a private a school where we ware uniforms and strict rules.
i agree with you. the way we dress can express how we are as a person. In addition sometimes it's just too hot to wear appropriate dress code clothing, especially in the summer.
DeleteLaws and rules are meant to keep society in order and also to protect our citizens. Not all laws and rules are necessary and some do more harm then good. One law for example is regular human being who are not police officers and security guards are not allowed to carry a concealed weapon in the state of New Jersey. There is though a permit one can get to carry a concealed weapon, but it is only available to "authorized individuals" like police officers or security guards. This law should be abolished in New Jersey because people should have the right to protect themselves. What if there was an apocalypse right now in the middle of the street, who would be prepared almost no one. Also people would be able to defend themselves when there a victim of attempted assault or attempted murder.
ReplyDeleteThis current law harms people in many ways. For example, people would be more likely to be robbed and with a gun they would be able to defend themselves. Or a least scare them off. Changing the law would change the community by protecting its citizens. It citizens would be more protected resulting in a lower crime rate. We would be better without this law because again we would be more protected. An alternate law to this law would be better background checks to whom we distribute these permits. For example, were not going to give a gun permit to a former murderer.

ReplyDeleteRules and laws are meant to keep society and people under control so that there is not thief, danger, or harm that frightens the people. With out these laws and rules, there would be pandemonium, chaos, completely no order to a community or society. This is why laws and rules are important. Laws such as to bare arms and to have freedom of speech are very important. But then again, there are outrageous laws that just have no meaning to them and are so ridiculous that they are barely broken. For example it is not prohibited to open an umbrella in Alabama in a public street because it could cause the horses to go wild. This law is either very old, or just plain ridiculous.
Furthermore, there is a law that should be added and tinkered with until all can agree on with. This is law is the right for abortion in all states. Currently there are 30 states that are illegal to have abortions and 20 states that allowed it. It should be allowed because no one knows how the baby was form, and under some circumstances, the women who are pregnant may either have suffered from rape, or can’t afford to take care of the baby when born. Yes it is considered almost as murder, but why bring a child to this world in where he/she will never see their father. Why bring a child when it will live its whole life in the ghettos. Yes some overcome these obstacles an become an inspirational story, but very rarely does that happen now. All in all, abortion should be legalized in all states.
I very much agree that there are some good and some ba laws. I especially liked the law you mentioned about opening an umbrella in Alabama, that's pretty funny. I completely agree with your opinion on abortion. Why force a young girl, or poor women, or anyone in a position where having a baby is a problem and will cause pain and suffering to have a child if they get pregnant. There is no reason a women who is raped should be forced to have that man's child, a forced because the government stepped into their personal life and said "No,no,no not in my house". Your point was very good.
DeleteGeorge I honestly agree with you. Abortion should be legal in all states, as well as countries. This is a great law/rule to be changed. A woman should totally be able to have an abortion especially if she was raped and shouldn't be forced at all to have that child.

In the U.S. there are many laws, some of which are ridiculous and need to be eradicated, others are reasonable but should be tweaked, and some are completely logical and desperately needed. One of the laws that should be changed is the laws or laws relating to teachers’ pay. I assume that since Chris Christie continuously lowers teachers’ pays and no other state seems to be doing that, states have the ability and schools have the ability to decide the teachers’ pay. I think that the laws or rules that allow different pays for teachers depending on where they are should be changed to where teachers are paid a predetermined amount and all teachers need to be paid that. I think that that amount should be $80,000 a year. Now this may sound like a lot of money, but teachers need and deserve it.
Teachers obviously teach children of ages from 5- 24 (some longer). Now what many fail to realize is the importance teachers have. Teachers are the people who shape and teach the children what they will need for the future. So how productive and hardworking an efficient our society will be at later times, depends on teachers. So we need good, nay great teachers, so that children can be taught the absolute best possible so that when they grow up the will be productive members of society, and our society won’t turn into a garbage dump. To get these great teachers, they need to be paid well. How can you expect a person who is extremely talented and knowledgeable and can teach kids very well, to be a teacher with a crappy salary of $40,000? They will know of their talent and if they can’t get a reasonable pay they will find another job with better pay that can use them. If the pay for teachers’ is awful, only awful teachers will be hired. If there are awful teachers all around America, then children will grow up stupid and society will rot. So the laws on teachers’ pays should be changed so that all teachers make at least $80,000 a year. The rules that allow governors, and presidents, and school districts, to independently decide the wage for the teachers under their control harms society because it damages education and the lives of people who are in the education profession. Teachers make very little, especially in New Jersey (thanks Christie). Teachers make so little, it is hard for some to make a decent living and have a decent home. The rules allowing people of authority to lower their pays further is ridiculous. Once the salary for teachers gets low enough, no one will want to become a teacher. There will be barely any teachers for schools, therefore children’s’ educations will suffer. So the rule I've been stressing should be changes really is affecting society by ruining teachers’ lives and ruining the education for children. Also, my teacher last year once said that he disliked Christie because he already made barely enough to have a nice home and family, and Christie is going to decrease the pay even more. I thought that was an incredibly honest and true statement, and I really admired that teacher.
Changing this rule to forcing teachers to be paid at least $80,000 a year will benefit society because better teachers will be hired. If the profession of teachers pays well many people will be keener to join teachers. Children today base what they want to be when they grow up usually based on what jobs have the best salary. If children like being social and are good around people and learn that teaching could make the ma good living, they may be more likely to grow up to become teachers. With a lot of people wanting to become teachers, basic math will say that there is more of a chance of very good teachers being around, and being hired. When affective and knowledgeable teachers are hired students are taught better, they learn better, and when they grow up they will be better and more productive member of society. So if the salary of teachers was made to be at least $80,000 then more people will become teachers, and more effective teachers will be hired and education for students will be improved and society in the future will be made of more productive members. To sum up my long spiel, the rule that allows certain authorities to freely control and decrease teachers salary harms society because with a decrease in pay their will be less skilled teachers and less children aspiring to be teachers, thus affecting education negatively, an alternative to the rule is that there is a national law making the pay of teachers at least $80,000 a year, this change would affect the community by creating better teachers and more people aspiring to become teacher, thus improving education, and society would be better if the rule was changed because education would be improved, so children would learn better and in the future our society will be more productive.

Rules and laws are set up to keep the world in control, to keep everyone safe from harm. Without laws/rules there would be complete chaos. So one law that I would change is the law about same sex marriage be illegal, although it is only legal in 17 states as of February 2014. This to me is a stupid rule because people of all colors and genders should be able to choose who to they marry and be able to be happy for many years to come. Marriage isn't about the what sex the person is when you're getting married, it's about the love you have with and for that person as well as the life you plan to share with that person.
It shouldn't have to matter to anybody else if two people of the same sex love each other or want to get married, it's none of anybody's business. The government or state shouldn't have a rule over the same sex marrying each other. As long as the two people getting married honestly love and care for each other then that's All that should matter, not the fact that they are both male or both female, or if one female is black and the other is white. All that matters is that they love each other and no one should care, when you show and talk about something that you honestly dislike or think is absolutely disgusting then you obviously care about that subject matter.
How this rule is harmful is that it causes many of those who are gay to not be able to have the right of getting married to their loved one if they choose. What would change is that many of those gay would have the right of getting married and they would without any judgment. How we would be better is that all same sex couples would have the right and freedom to live their life as they want and not be judged because they are marrying someone of the same sex. If you don't like it then don't pay attention, you don't have to like or appreciate it you just have to respect it. An alternative would be that all same sex couples all over the US should have the right to get married.
DeleteYou have some very valid points in your blog. I agree that gay and lesbian marriages should be legal and everyone should be respected. I agree, it does not matter what or how they act but the love they share for eachother.
DeleteToday I’m going to be talking just about the three rules I would like to change in Dunellen High School. Firstly, I would like to change the dress code. I don’t mean like we should be able to wear really short shorts, I mean like we should be able to wear hats and beanies in the winter, and I don’t understand why we can’t that’s just ridiculous. Also, in the summer we should be able to wear tank tops. This school has no AC at all so how do you expect kids to go to school during the summer in capris and a short sleeved shirt? I would also like to make the rule that the cafeteria ladies should have to war hairnets when they are serving lunch. For example, I find hair not only on my food but inside of it. I think this is a health hazard and we should have this school law made. The last law I would want to change is the rule where if you get into a fight and you didn’t start it and you use self-defensive, you shouldn’t get in trouble. I know a lot of people who get in trouble just for defending themselves and that isn’t right. I don’t mean the other kid should kill the other person, but I mean the person should be able to stank up for themselves and protect themselves without them breaking the “school rule.” These are the three rules I would change in Dunellen High School.

ReplyDeleteOvertime, our planet deteriorates from the inhumane and irrational choices of the people in it. Choices that damage our global ecosystems and choices that detriment the impeccable lives that remain a part of the world today. There remains an issue in the world today; an issue about the unsullied hearts of the organisms that get their lives taken away from them. It is called finning; which is taking a shark and cutting off its fins, then throwing the body back into the ocean to bleed to death. Imagine being hooked by the mouth; imagine being dragged through the water, and what thoughts might go through your head. Imagine being pulled unto a hard surface and slammed. In actuality, sharks need to be constantly moving forward to grant themselves lift or they will sink. Without fins they either bleed to death or sink from not being able to move forward. Not to mention this is a foreboding act of execution towards the dreadful, unsuspecting target. Sharks are diminishing in numbers each day, not to mention they are a huge part of the food chain, and without sharks the food chain is off balance.
A law should be implemented against this act immediately. One thing I do not understand is how can this still be happening in the world today? How can a person live with themselves as they are exerting this force and brutality onto these sharks? The world should have stricter laws against fining, even if it’s illegal, it still tends to happen. It’s an unfair and an injudicious act. There should be greater regulations and precautions taken to the very fullest to preserve the lives of these precious creatures. People would be causing less destruction to the planet which all around would help every creature and human. Because humans dump sharks into the oceans it causes the ecosystems to go out of balance because of the decrease of sharks. The world would benefit because the humans are stopping all the pollution and harmful imbalances and acts towards these sharks.
There are a lot of stupid laws. Many of the well known, often debated laws have been taken, so I have decided to pick a lesser known law. This little diddy comes from a little place called New Jersey. The law states that it is in fact illegal to frown at a police officer. Out of all the thing our lawmakers could have been doing or making illegal, they chose frowning at police officers. How many complaints were they getting from New Jersey's finest about frowning that they had to take time out of their busy schedules to make this a law. If I could change a law it would be this one.
ReplyDeleteI have an irrational hatred for this law. I am just a firm believer that I should be allowed to frown at whoever I want, whether they are a cop or not. Chances are I am not frowning to be a jerk, I am frowning because I have had a bad day, and if you happen to be in the direction I am facing, sorry. Want to know what is worse than having a really bad day, getting a ticket for having a really bad day. Granted, I do not think that this law is ever enforced, but just the fact it can be is ridiculous.
There is one law in Alabama that allows incestuous marriages. Incestuous means having a sexual relationship between two people who are considered, for moral or genetic reasons, too closely related to have such a relationship. I believe that if a law such as this is allowed, why isn't gay marriage legal in Alabama? Incest is something very wrong in my opinion. I could never imagine two family members like siblings having a sexual relationship. I think that gay marriage should be legalized throughout the entire country. The U.S is supposed to be a free country. People should be allowed to marry whomever they decide.
ReplyDeleteIf a thing such as incest exist, gay marriage should be allowed. They aren't much different. Having gay marriages does not cause violence or hurt anybody. While as incest can cause deformities. If two siblings have a baby together, it can come out deformed or even risk dying. My mom's best friend's aunt married her brother and had a daughter. Thankfully she didn't die, but she did suffer a growth problem. She is currently twenty six and 4'5. This isn't considered normal because everyone else in her family is tall.
I agree with you completely Yarelen. It is really wrong to promote or to take part in incestuous relationships. Also, if that is legal who's to say that homosexual relationships are immoral.

ReplyDeleteThe laws and rules in the United States are for the most part made to keep peace and order. There are some laws that could stand to be tweaked or adjusted to a certain degree. For example freedom of speech is a law that is granted to all americans by law of the constitution. This civil right is taken to an extent that is far more than the founding fathers had anticipated. We should modify this law to make it more specific to a point where the liberties given are not used to hurt the feelings or manipulate the beliefs of other individuals. People take their freedom of speech to back wrong actions, like wearing an inappropriate shirt or speaking in a way that is uncalled for or not right.
If I could do anything with the freedom of speech it would be to make it so that people were free to speak only if that right was not used in spite or aggressive manner. Slightly changing this law would spare the feelings of many americans and stop unnecessary confrontation between two parties. For example, wearing a shirt to school with provocative or inappropriate writing on it would have to go due to this new change. As an alternative to this law the we could ask the people who have taken their freedom of speech too far to cease in their raunchous behaviors.
According to the school rule, students who come to school late four times in a year would get a detention. In many cases, it’s unnecessary to provide students detention for coming in late in just a year. It would make more sense if detention is given when one is late four times in a marking period. Being late is not an inappropriate or a misbehaving act. Many come to school late because something accidentally prevented them from being able to come early. Someone’s alarm clock may not work on that day, some may have to take care of a child in the morning, some may have got stuck in traffic, and many more excuses that students didn’t want it to happen. Second of all, detention is not truly a punishment to every student. It wouldn’t make sense to have to stay after school for 15 minutes just because you’re late even though it’s not your fault. It would also be fairer if students are excused because the parents explained the office what happened; that way the school would know that the student didn’t just make up stories and that they deserved to be exempt from being punished.
ReplyDeleteAnother rule I would like to change in school is to allow students to wear hats. I cannot explain why hats seem so dangerous or inappropriate to school, or maybe just the school principal. If students are going to hide weapons in their hat, then it would be better off if they hide them in their boots, backpack, and pockets. (Just saying) Students should have the rights to dress however they want, as long as it covers their body. Also, if the students fell asleep, the teachers would be able to tell because hats couldn’t hide their faces. Public school is a public place where students can express however they want, as long as it’s harmless. It wouldn’t matter if wearing hats are seemingly inappropriate because we’re in public. Some people also look nice with a hat on too.

ReplyDeleteI would take the rule that you can't use your phone in school but with restrictions. I think that you should be able to use your phone outside of a classroom. Such as places like the hallway, the library, the lunchroom, the bathroom and in gym when you are just sitting doing nothing in archery. The rule is that you can't use you phone in school but why can't you use them in the places that I listed, you would not be hurting or interrupting anyone. I believe that outside of the classroom we would not be using our phones for anything but entertainment and to contact someone.
There should definitely be restrictions on this rule though. I definitely agree that if there is a class going on in the classroom that you are in you should not be able to use your phone. If you use your phone while any teacher is teaching the is very rude and disrespectful and shows how you don't care about their class. Maybe if you need to use your phone as a calculator or need to find a definition and the teacher lets you then it is okay to use your phone in a classroom. Overall I believe that using your phone in school is a good idea but if you are caught breaking the one rule, punishment should be strict.

All of them United States laws have some background to them. How they were brought up as an option/idea, being put into words as a law, and being officially declared a law. But there are always a few changes that can be made. Obviously, somebody as myself has no experience as the men who made these choices, but from my standpoint and knowledge as of right now. The right to bare arms is a really controversial law in our country. I believe it should not exist. It just causes more problems than help citizens out.
In my opinion, the right to bare arms just harms people. For example, school shootings occur pretty often nowadays. Then somehow they try to use that law or something like that to get themselves out of trouble. A gun is very dangerous depending on whose hands it gets in. DOnt get me wrong though. There are responsible people out there who know how and when to use the right way. But God forbid that it gets in the wrong hands. All hell will break loose, as we have seen already. The world could be a better place. It can save many lives and cause less stress on the world in general.
one law in new jersey that is absurd is that you cannot pump your own gas in new jersey. i remember when me and family were driving back home from Virginia one time that this guy was taking forever so we could not pull off because this guy took like twelve minutes just to get to our car and then another fifteen minutes to come back over there so my dad just took the gas pump out and drove off and gave the guy the money when he finally decided to come back over our way.in that case we would've been better off with pumping our own gas because sometimes gas pumpers take a long time to get to your then you should be allowed to pump your own gas. it would be better for people to pump their own gas because sometimes the gas pumpers may not be able to hear you and mistake something you might have said. another incident happened my this guy thought my dad said 40 regular when he said 20 and the guy was mad at my dad because he wasn't going t pay him 40 when he said 20 so my dad just drove off. also pumping can take time off of waiting and it's not that hard to learn to pump gas. and if you pay for something then you should be able anything with it like pumping your own gas and for gas station workers do not have to wait all day just pump peoples gas for them. to be honest why is this even a law that you cannot pump your gas in new jersey because many other states allow the driver to pump their own gas so why doesn't new jersey just allow drivers to pump their own gas
