Blog 13: History Remembered

DUE TUESDAY JANUARY 22
The twentieth century saw great change. In your opinion, what is ONE change that should be remembered about the twentieth century? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice.
Additionally, for the second paragraph, choose another historical era (from any country and any time period). Explain an invention, achievement or idea that, according to you, changed history. Again, detailed examples and specific explanations are key to receiving full credit (Don't allude to an incident or generalize).

Please do not repeat the information provided by other people. Be creative and original.

  1. Something from the twentieth century that should be recognized should be the invention of antibiotics. Antibiotics revolutionized the field of medicine when they were first made. Before any kind of sickness someone picked up was fatal. However, in 1928 when Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin it became very easy to now cure the now once fatal sicknesses. Now it is very rare for someone to die from bacterial infection. If there were no antibiotics then there would definitely be a higher mortality rate because people will be able to die from illnesses we do not see as fatal.
Another historical event during that era occurred in Europe due to World War 2. The results of World War 2 changed the economies and borders for a lot of countries. Empires fell, countries nearly went bankrupt, and a lot of new countries were recorded after the empires fell. There is always the potential that if World War 2 did not go in favor of the allies then there is a possibility that the world would be much different than it is today. There is the possibility that Germany could have controlled most of the world and would be unable to be stopped. Also there is another possibility that the entire Jewish race could be extinct. From all of these possibilities this time period of history should be greatly remembered.

  2. One change that should be remembered about the twentieth century is the invention of automobiles. Without automobiles, people today would not have the fast transportation that cars provide us with. At first the country started out with the use of horses for its main source of transportation. This source was not very convenient after the invention of car. In the present day, there are several types of automobiles, some faster than others. Without this invention from the twentieth century, the world would not know where we would be today.

In addition to the invention from the twentieth century, there were several others created in the years before hand. For example, in the nineteenth century, the first typewriter was invented. This helped several adults and students to type up papers in order to be neater than usual. This invention was very important because of how it led to other creations, like the computer. Computers would not have been thought of if the typewriter did not exist. Now, in the modern time, computers are not just used for typing but is also useful for research, making power points, creating graphs, and tons more. All of the inventions from different eras of the world are beneficial, helpful, and valuable for the future ahead of us.

  3. It is amazing to think about technology and realize how much it has changed and progress over the years. Many of the successful changes that took place in the twenty-first century were ideas from past inventions. One of the biggest changes that took place in the late 1990s and even early 2000s was the invention of the wireless phone. This new invention wasn’t very popular at first. However, little did we know that it would evolve into something bigger. Now, we have smartphones that have changed the way man can get in contact with not only one another but also get on the internet. Phones will continue to change and get more advanced in the years to come. But, if it wasn’t for the invention of the basic phone, these faster and better phones would’ve never been thought of.
Another great invention we don’t really think about is the printer. The printer was invented by Chester Carlson in 1938. There were already different types of printers developed, but Chester provided the basic concepts. His invention was a great success because the large printing presses could put ink on a page, but they were way too big everyday use. These large printing presses only printed blue too. Thanks to Carlson's invention, we eliminated the use of chemicals, relying on electrostatic charges and light to transfer the image to one surface to another. Now, we use printers in school, work, and many other places. If it wasn’t for Carlson, we would probably still be using huge printing presses or maybe not have the advanced printers we have today.

  4. The twentieth century seemed to be an age of invention. The computer had to be the biggest change that should be remembered forever. Computers have created an opening for everyone around the world to communicate and involve themselves in new ways. At first, computers were large processors that had huge monitors and they were only used for top of line sciences. Now, they have revolutionized to be lighter than 3 ounces and present in almost every single home. Computers have the ability to take pictures, save documents, allow you to search the internet database, and now play games and use applications for just about everything. They have evolved into small machines that can almost do anything.

In 1940s America, the ground for fast food was established. At common fairs, hamburgers and hot dogs that were quickly prepared seemed to be of poor quality. White Castle and McDonald’s changed the industry. McDonald’s redesigned fast food and invented the assembly line that provides the food with great speed. In 2005, the fast food pool of money was up to 163.5 dollars. This quick food has become convenient and even more so, since many people are on the road and their schedules are full. Fast food has become an incredible revolution.

  5. ¶ The 20th century was by far one of the most remarkable centuries known to man. In the 20th century, people and things changed everyone. For example, the Civil Rights Movement, the Women’s Rights Movement, the Holocaust and WWII, the Vietnam War, and many other freedom movements all around the world. People came up with new inventions to help the world, like Marie Curie discovering polonium and radium, a history changing event. Another great example is Amelia Earhart, being first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean and the first fly alone across both the Atlantic and the Pacific. Henry Ford invented the automobile, Thomas Edison invented the light bulb, Albert Einstein became the greatest scientist on the earth, and so much more. Performers such as Marylin Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, The Beatles, Queen, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong, and more all changed our daily lives. They influence the music we listen to today and such. As the list can go on and on, the most memorable thing of the 20th century that we should not forgot is the personal “computer”. In the early part of the 20th century, everyone used a type writer like we use our laptops today. The first Apple Computer came out in 1976, but people had huge boxes with the calculating power of a sack of hammers that were expensive around the time of WWII. With Steve Job’s invention, he has changed everyone’s lives today, including everyone typing on this blog. Without his marvelous invention, no one would be reading this post and this blog wouldn’t exist unless someone came along a few years from now and thought about his inventions. His invention changed the world and if sometime in the future something better than a computer does come out, no one should forget his remarkable invention.
¶ Another era that changed the world was the 19th century. The Industrial Revolution took place and created most of the things we have today. The Industrial Revolution is the movement that is basically in charge of what we do daily. People such as Count Alessandro Volta invent the battery. In Germany, Frederick Koenig invented an improved printing press, Peter Durand invented the tin can and many other inventions occurred. The number one invention from the Industrial Revolution was in 1837, when Samuel Morse invented the telegraph. Without these inventions, modern day communication would be set back and hard to do when you’re not in person. Telegraphs were sent (most famously) from the wars (such as WWII) to homes to spread news about a family member in the war. Others just sent them for fun for mail. Another great invention was by Dr. William Morton, a Massachusetts dentist, who was the first to use anesthesia for tooth extraction in 1846. Without anesthesia, people would be in a great amount of unbearable pain in surgery and in the dentist. If he had not used the anesthesia, people might have gone in pain for a longer time at the dentist and doctor. Every surgical procedure except for brain surgery uses his idea of anesthesia to knock out a patient to reduce pain and consciousness in the procedure. In earlier years, doctors would just tear into patients with no medicine and they would be in excruciating pain. Now that he has used his new idea, everyone can have a peaceful surgery and time at the dentist rather than feeling their insides be poked at and having their teeth ripped out.

  6. The twentieth century had so many great inventions. The one invention that really stuck out to me was the invention of the ipad. The ipad to me was one of the greatest inventions ever invented for many reasons. One of the main reasons that the ipad is one of the best inventions is because it’s a computer and mp3player and much more. It is also as thin as a piece a paper which means you can take it anywhere and anytime. An ipad is also a notebook, textbook, calculators and ex, which mean instead of having to carry a bunch of school books around you can just carry around your ipad. An a ipad can do almost do anything and it makes everything so convenient and easy. This make the ipad in my opinion one of the greatest things ever invented.
In Alsace, France during the 1940’s the first oven was invented. This invention made everything to do with cooking so much easier. Before ovens people would have to cook over flames which would take hours and wait a lot of time. But when the oven was invented it would help people to cook faster and cook food evenly.

  7. Coming into the 21st century, the country as a whole began to contribute and new inventions began to pop up all over the place. One invention that came up in 1938 is the ballpoint pen; it was invented by Laszlo Biro from Argentina during World War II bringing it a lot of attention. Not only was this very crucial to this time period, but also in todays. The ballpoint pen has become a very important and common writing tool throughout the years; avoiding smudging, and guaranteeing what was written cannot be erased or removed unless covered completely. Professional writers and documenters found this tool especially valuable considering this is exactly what they’re trying to achieve. Furthermore, people use this quick, permanent writing tool throughout their everyday lives such as in school, work, or even writing a quick note at home. Without this invention, writing would be changed and possibly not preserved as well as it is today if it weren’t for this invention.
The television, one of the most viewed and used mechanisms dating all the way back to 1884 when it was first invented by Paul Nipkow. Americans have taken advantage of this invention and brought it to all new heights in the past few years, even beyond the 3 dimension ability. This invention specifically has evolved the world and the way we communicate with people from one side of the world to another. In emergency situation, there is no better way to inform everyone within seconds than the television. In addition, it has become and worldwide entertainment source, from young children to the elderly, the television has become almost an addiction. All in all, the television has become not only an important invention, but also very useful for everyone.

  8. There were many significant inventions in the twentieth century. Of all the important inventions of the twentieth century, the ONE change that should be remembered the most was the invention made by Frenchmen Jacques Cousteau and Emil Gagnan. They invented the Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, or in other words, SCUBA. This allowed for divers to explore the depths of the ocean; without a giant submarine, or heavy outfit. This apparatus made it easier for the divers to breathe, as well as become more agile underwater. This invention led to the discoveries of all the different underwater species. From fish, to plants, the invention of the SCUBA gear was able to broaden our understanding of the ocean.

In 1804, transportation in the United Sates and all around the world changed for the better. Richard Trevithick was able to build the first steam powered locomotive on this date. Thanks to his invention, people around the country no longer had to rely on horse drawn carriages to take their heavier supplies across great distances. Instead, the large steam powered trains were able to lug these materials hundreds of miles. Not only was the train used for trade, but it later developed into the most efficient way of great distance traveling. Without the invention of the locomotive in the 19th century, transportation and trade would not be as efficient as it is today.

  9. One invention that is applauded in the 20th century, is the invention of the computer. Bill Gates founded his corporation,Microsft, in 1975, and has been a household name ever since. One of his greatest inventions for the computer is "Microsoft Word" which is a computer analyzed app solely made for the purpose of typing and creating important documents for bussniess realted reasons instead of hand writing them. Ever since then, Bill gates has made such an impact on our society that people on the other side of the hemishphere are using his products. Microsft word is said to be one of the reasons as to why America has a such a good education system today.

Also, an invention from the 20th century was the invention of the automobile. From cars, plans , trains, ferrys, boats, and motorcycles, all have benefited the world since their inventions. Ways of traveling have become easier since the invention of the airplanne. It used to be that you had to travel in boats to get from one continent to another. Since the Wright brothers invention of the plane, that has made things much easier on the common bussiness man. Bussinesses often times have meetings in other countries, or mayeb on the opposite coast line as you. Without the advantage to tranportation, America would'nt go anywhere.

  10. Since the begginning of time man has traveled the world by boat. Long adventures, gone months or years just to get to one place. The start of the 20th century brought aa new invention somehting that would change the world as knew it. The Wright brothers invented the first plane. As many times as they tried all the attemps failed. Then one of the many planes they built acyually worked. Now today the Wright brothers go down in hitory for the greatest invention ever. Planes are still used today but now they are motorrized and fly longer distances then in those days.
The best invention in my opinion is the celll phone. These are great because they allow you to communicate from anywhere in the world at anytime. Martin Cooper was believed to have created the first ever mobile phone on April, 3 1978. In todays society cell phones are used for work, school and entertainment. Anyone from the ages 5 and up knows how to use a cell phone because their just so easy to use. The first ever phone weighed about 2.5 pounds not even able to fit in your pocket, now phones are small as a deck of cards and weigh only a few ounces.

  11. There have been many remarkable inventions in the twentieth century. However, I believe that one of the changes of the century that should be remembered is Willis Carrier’s invention of the air conditioner. For decades before his invention, people were trapped in the hotness, with no way of cooling themselves except by hand-held fans and water. This must have been a terrible way of life, until the air conditioner came along. Willis Carrier changed the lives of many people, to this day. He set a goal for the air conditioner to control temperature, humidity, air circulation/ventilation, and cleanse the air; all of which he accomplished to make the air conditioner what is today, which has improved life.

For hundreds of years, people had been using paintings, sketches, words, and diagrams to illustrate real life events or visuals. However, in the year of 1840, the very first “camera” was invented by Alexander Wolcott. Even though it wasn’t didn’t exactly take the best photographs at the time, it sparked many other inventors’ thoughts. The camera that Wolcott created was a large box that took a sloppy image, however, it is now an extremely small mechanism built into cell phones and computers, about the size of a bead that takes very clear pictures. The camera has helped to capture moments in time as they really look and happened. Years and years ago, people could only portray real moments in life through paintings and drawings, which weren’t always accurate. But now, thanks to Alexander Wolcott and his invention of the camera, people can see clear, accurate images of real life moments.

  12. The twentieth century saw great changes. One big change was the development of weapons and battle equipment for war. This took place throughout all the different battles and wars we have taken part in. The United States have adapted new ideas and ways to make fighting much easier. For example, in the 1980s the first sniper rifle was invented. In the 19th century the armies would use shot guns or machine guns. Sniper Rifles are used to shoot the enemy from long distances and makes killing people easier. Another example is the tank. It was first introduced in World War I and they improved it by World War II. They make war easier because the soldiers inside are protected from the battle outside. Soldiers can storm the enemies turf without the risk of being shot. Weapon development is a great change in the twentieth century because it makes fighting easier and safer.

The Revolutionary War has definitely changed history in several ways. One way was creating the United States. The United States won the war and became its own country. After winning, the United States broke away from British rule and established its own government and independence. Another way it changed history by, giving the United States the ability to become a world power. After parting ways from England they are one of the strongest countries today. The Revolutionary War allowed the United States to be developed and become one of the best countries.

  13. A historical event from the twentieth century is the creation and opening of Disneyland by Walt Disney. This event is historical because thousands of people flock to Disneyland each year. The park is known today as the “happiest place on Earth” due to its friendly atmosphere and sense of magic. Before Disneyland was created, there were no theme parks in existence. Walt Disney opened the park in 1955 and created a whole new world for children to immerse themselves into. The opening of Disneyland improved the economy and tourism for the state of California. If Disneyland where not invented or created, the shaping of the Disney empire would not have happened.

Another great event that happened during the twentieth century was the Women’s Rights Movement. The results of the Women’s Rights Movement was generally a giant step forward for the equality of women. Women won the right to vote, their educational opportunities became increased, and job opportunities that were not available before allowed women to apply. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 was passed which made employers pay women the same rate as men. Also, the Presidential Executive Order in 1967 ensured that bias did not take place against women while hiring people for positions by federal government contractors. If the Women’s Civil Rights Movement did not occur, women would still be thought of as less than a man.

  14. The lie detector or polygraph machine was invented by James Mackenzie in 1902. This was a very important invention in the twentieth century because it is very useful in modern times. We now can interrogate people and figure out the truth faster, therefore solving cases faster. Some police forces use these because they are very helpful in solving cases. We are able to figure out if people are lying or not much quicker. This can also prevent cases being slowed down when cops think that the person committed the crime, and won’t believe what they say.

The historical era that I chose is the Industrial Revolution. During this time period, many important inventions were created. One of the most important inventions was the telephone invented by Alexander Graham Bell. He invented the telephone, which opened the floodgates for communication. Today, there are so many people in the United States alone that have telephones. Although he did not invent the iPhone or iPod that we use today, he did come up with the idea. He did change the way we communicate forever.

    1. Kevin, I agree the polygraph is a great invention. I always found it surprising that the polygraph results are inadmissible in court and only used as an indicator of someone being truthful or not.

  15. The Great Depression is a time in the twentieth century that should always be remembered. The Great Depression was a time of vulnerability. The economic fall throughout North America, Europe and other industrialized area around the world. The Great Depression was a change all over the world that took a great toll on people’s lives. It was a time of despair but, in the end it really helped nations become stronger. Today, people have started becoming more careful about what they spend, saving for a rainy day, not taking their job for granted and sensing trouble rather than going along cheerfully trusting in the worlds services.

Another important invention came in the nineteenth century, the typewriter. The type writer became a very important invention to mankind. It was useful and made it easier for people to communicate with each other. Christopher Sholes invented the first practical modern typewriter in 1866. His typewriter became very important to the future world as other ideas branched off of his invention to become more advanced. Without the typewriter invention, the twentieth century may have never seem the more technological computer.

  16. Day by day our human race becomes more intelligent and advanced as more changes and inventions are adapted by the people of the world. As centuries go by smarter generations are producing newer and better inventions. Every century has its own list of key inventions and changes that led to being world know and made life easier in some way yet, the twentieth century had a huge impact on our world as we know it when it comes to changes. All over the world we accept all inventions and changes yet one group of inventions that had a major change in our world were the advancements in kitchen and household appliances. This group of modern inventions includes ovens or stoves, refrigerators, freezer, microwaves and many other common appliances. These are so important cause everyday of our lives even if we think not we use one of these many inventions at least for one thing a day and they are used for a very important reason. Therefore, the inventions of more advanced household appliances are one change in our world that should be remembered when we think about the twentieth century.
Another time in history where there was an important change that will be remembered every time someone may think about that certain time period is the time period in which Rome was the center point of power. When the Roman Empire began to take control of the majority of the world they did not only rule and take greed into consideration and do things only for themselves. They also were the very few to have adapted new ways of life, government, and some of the first to build inventions to make life easier. The Roman Empire did not only create a government that we see a few factors and ideas into our own government today, but they also invented things such as central heating, indoor plumbing, and roads for traveling. Therefore, the Roman Empire is another group of people and time period that had changes and ideas that will always and should be remembered.

  17. There has been a big change in the 20th Century that should be remembered. For example, the television with color invented by Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena. The television with color has brought a great change to the world. Before it was invented, people only could see black and white, and after a while it got boring just seeing black and white. Now, everyone is impressed and is thankful that Guillermo Gonzalez Camarena invented television with color.
Another thing that should be remembered is when Martin Luther gave his speech and stopped racism. Martin Luther lived through a time period of torture. Everyone was racist to one another. Black people were racist to white people. And white people were racist to black people. Martin Luther king didn’t want people to be racist. He wanted everything to stop and for everyone to love one another as equal people. So Martin Luther king gave his speech and a great amount of people joined him. In the 1960’s racism stopped, but the day it stopped martin Luther king died. This should be remembered because he stopped racism and he didn’t even live to see how it felt to be without racism in the world. But he stopped it and thanks to him we no longer have to suffer or people don’t have to be mean to each other.

  18. The 20th Century hold good and bad memories. like the two World War's that changed everyone's perspectives. For example, the United States of America created a massive Destruction Weapon that changed the world after seeing what the "Atomic Bomb" had done to Japanese city Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the United States use the Atomic Bombs against to get back at them for destroying Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in 1942. The World was shocked after seeing that the United States had a weapon that would change the future. If the U.S. haven't dropped those two bomb who know if WWII would still be going on or if the Vietnam War could have still happened. This Atomic Bomb creation changed and help stop WWII in 1945.

The twenty-first century has proven to have magnanimous changes with its new technology. for instants our phones are quickly becoming; faster, reliable, and secure. A big invention in the twenty-first century has been the "Smart Phone Revolution". The companies Samsung, LG, Apple, Microsolt, and many well known technological companies. Samsung has brought out the hand held, thin, and big screen Samsung Note II that has proven to be a great reliable, fast, and most importantly very Smart. With the Samsung Note II you can do as much or more then you can do in a computer. These new phones are Prize but, very reliable for business men and entrepeneurs of moddurn time. As can be seen, times have changed and people have evolved with technology.

  19. Our world has had many inventions threw out history. The are some that are really important for example light, the car, the airplane, and plenty more. In the 20th century there was huge inventions but the one that really stands out to me is the microwave. The microwave is really important in the world now. The first microwave was invented in 1954. The microwave is really important in daily basics , the microwave is used now for making food and heating up food. For example it can make popcorn, or heat up diner for example.

What I think was the greatest invention of the hole world is the light bulb. The light bulb was invented in 1879. Since the light bulb was invented it change the world completely In so many ways. One of them people could read on the dark or do activities at the dark. The light bulb is used not in daily basics once we go to school every class room has one and in the hall ways. In houses the room lightbulb is usually turn on every morning. The light bulb has to be the most important invention of ever.

  20. There is no doubt that the 20th Century is filled with historical events like no other century. In the 20th Century not only was the Internet invented but the first man, Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. With each invention it has helped the human race become advanced by becoming more efficient such as when Henry Ford improved the use of the assembly line to build Model T Ford vehicles. In addition, social media websites such as Facebook and Twitter were created as a result of the internet from which was founded in the 20th Century. It is true that many inventions from the 20th Century catapulted other inventions that were created in the 21st Century such as the IPAD. In all this, communication has been the one thing that brings the people and the ideas together.

We have witnessed many inventions in the 20th century that were the building blocks for inventions in the 21st Century. It was no different in the 20th Century when the first Morse code radio transmission was sent in 1901. In 1895 Guglielmo Marconi from Italy, sent and received his first radio signal. This set the stage for him to send the first wireless signal in 1899. It was not until 1901 when the first morse code "S" was sent from England to Canada. This was the beginning of wireless communication in which ships at the time capitalized on this technology because it allowed them to communicate across the ocean. In particular, morse code became the standard to use on war ships to communicate with the naval basis. So in essence, while some may be surprised by our wireless capabilities today it is as a result of an invention created much earlier in the 20th Century.

  21. In the 20th century we had many good inventions and also very bad ones. For example one of the worst inventions was the "Sham-wow". Supposedly it could've clean anything. but when people starting buy it it would just disinigrate in your had. I'm a witness. But a really good invention was the credit card. Instead of taking stacks of money in your pockets you can take one plastic card. This plastic cards services our needs in many ways. First, it increases the space in your pocket, you can take more money, and its harder to get robbed. It's harder to rob because not everyone knows you pin number. You need the pin number to take out money. If the hef doesn't have it then he/she can't take your money. But if you would of had cash, they could've robbed you and waist all of your money. So it's safer to have a credit card.

I think the greatest invention was the car. I think it was the greatest invention because us people use them on a 24/7 basis. We use them to buy groceries, go on vacation, or even visit your grandmother. Cars make life easier and faster.

  22. The twentieth century has experienced many changes that have advanced the lives of the people today. One change that should be remembered from the twentieth century is the television. Even today, the television is continuing to advance. Before the invention of the television, people listened to the news on the radio. There was no such thing as visual entertainment other than physically going to see something. The invention of the television provided viewers with entertainment, education, and the ability to view things directly from their living room. Clearly the television is a change that should be remembered about the twentieth century so people are able to compare a television back from when it was first made to the present time period.
Another change that should be remembered is the iPod. Many people contributed to the first making of the iPod, which was in October of 2011. Jon Rubinstein, Jonathan Ive, Tony Fadell, Michael Dhuey, Tim Wasko, and Steve Jobs all participated in the production of the first iPod that took over a year to create. iPods have changed the lives of many teens and adults. Playing games, taking pictures, listening to music and an easier access to the internet/social networking sites are only a few of the several advantages that the iPod has. iPods and iPhones have advanced lives of those in the twentieth century so greatly by giving people entertainment and easy accessibility.

  23. One of the greatest changes ever from the 20th century is the advanced development of war tactics. Before the twentieth century war was very difficult because they didn't have advance weapons or tactics. These upcoming changes would eventually lead to changing the way war was fought foerever. During WWI a lot of new changes were being made, some of the new inventions that were more advanced and developed were: Guns, tanks, chemical weapons, grenades, military aircraft, and modified tactics and strategies. These new developed ways of war life would eventually lead to the succession of the Triple Entente. But also change war forever.

    Another great change/invention is from
the early 18th century which is the piano. The piano is one of the greatest and most popular musical instruments. It was invented a man named Bartolemeo Cristofori in Italy. Since then, the creation of the piano has greatly influenced us because we still have it in our world today and it is a worldwide known and played instrument. It has also influenced the way we listen to music and view things. The piano has changed our way our way of playing music, it has been proven that anyone can play it just like Beethoven who was deaf. Not only can the piano be played by anyone but can be enjoyed in any type of song or musoc genre. Overall the piano has greatly influenced our lives.

  24. Our greatest changes in the 20th century would have been when Obama was elected president. He was the only African America President in history. The changed the states for a while. Alot of people didn't want him to become president due to the he black, and some just didn't like his views. Recently Obama was relected, Mitt Romney was close of winning because of, the more populated white states. But yet he lost in a long shot. This change, helped the world further understand that color doesnt matter.
In Chile the country has changeed because they just started bring in hybrid cars, before they just used small cars to use less gas and milage. so the is, something new that can help chiles ecomoney and help them move forward.

  25. Throughout the twentieth century, many changes happened. One change that should be remembered is the discovery of human blood groups. In 1901, Landsteiner discovered how to differentiate human’s blood types. When he introduced this to other scientists, they were amazed. Soon it was introduces to hospitals and doctors. With surgeons and doctors knowing this, so many people’s lives were saved and it was a scientific breakthrough.
Blood groups save lives. For instance, they should be remembered because without knowing which blood group someone is, there is a less chance of someone who needs blood to survive. Blood groups help with blood transfusions, surgeries, and much more. Blood types are important to cancer patients too. Some of the patients can’t get the help they need because they don’t have enough blood for the doctors to perform the surgery. 27. I think that music was the biggest change during the 20th century. During the 19th century, there was not too big of a main genre to listen too. Although, in the 20th century people created music that other people could enjoy and connect to sometimes. The main and most popular type of music was made during this century which was rock and roll, a type of loud music that is good for dancing and partying. There were many, many, amazing bands during this century such as The Who, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Bob Dylan and The Beatles. This music forever changed the world and its view on music and how soul and heart can be put into every note.

Next, the industrial revolution also drastically changed the way that the world works in this century. There were many machine inventions such as the robot or the welding tool. All of the ways that this world is mechanized changed very rapidly and efficiently during the 20th century. The only problem with the way that the world changed is that it was putting a lot of jobs out of use. For example, the working man was replaced by a machine in a factory. Also, horses were replaced by motor vehicles. And towards the end, deadly weapons were made that can literally wreak havoc on this planet.

  28. In 1925 the first real working television made its debut, since the first time it was watched it changed human history forever. Television has shown us the greatness of our kind and that most anything is possible. This should be the most remembered thing from our past because it has evolved so much into something that has become a part of everyday lives. We can know what is happening half way across the world the second it happens from the comfort of our living rooms and that is an accomplishment in itself.
Another invention that amazes me is the phone.
The phone was made in1876 by Alexander Graham Bell. It is another great use of communication. The fact that you can hear somebody without having to be in the same remote area fascinates me. I cannot imagine having to figure that out, so I think the inventor and the invention should be remembered forever.

    1. Without the phone I dont know where we would be today. It helps us in emergencies and to keep in touch with far away friends. Between the television and the telophone I do believe that these are two of the greatest invetnions ever created by man...besides the wheel.
