It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is
contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with
knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important?
Why? Make sure to use specific examples and reference detailed events, experiences, books and other material. A minimum of 2 paragraphs, as always, with at least a 2-3 sentence response to someone else's blog.
Education in America is the building block of every American’s life. From the time we are 5 years old until our senior year in high school, everyone in the Unites States is required to go to school and get an education. Although education here in the U.S is not valued as much as it is in other countries such as China and Japan, we do take it into a great concern. The common courses children take most of their careers as students are arithmetic, science, history, writing, language arts, and maybe even a foreign language. But there are some things that the books do not supply for us. Numbers and letters can't always give us the answer to some obstacles that may come up later in life. Sometimes the best way to gain knowledge is through your own life experiences.
ReplyDeleteStreet smarts and book smarts are two completely different subjects, but both can help you significantly throughout the course of your life. Focusing on your grades in high school and pushing yourself to do better will definitely get you somewhere in the working industry , but the school doesn't offer courses on how to deal with it. For example, coping with rough friendships is something that nobody teachers you in school. Although it wouldn’t be completely accurate to tell people how to deal with their own life, we as human beings find out on our own through trial and error. Our own experiences can teach how to deal with situations that books cannot provide for us. None of the books in school tell you how to patch up relationships so in a sense it's our responsibility to find out ourselves. It's definitely a good thing to go through the bad experiences because now you know to never make the same mistake again.
I think you meant "teaches" on your 3rd line on the second paragraph, but overall great paragraphs!I do agree that the US doesn't give much importance to our education but at least some of us do care enough to try in school so we can succeed later on in life. I agree with your 2nd paragraph completely because we do learn from our mistakes, of course not all of us but most of us do.
DeleteBooks are a great way to learn in the world and reading hightens your knowledge. Reading isnt the only way to gain knowledge because most things in books are from the past, things that are irrelevant to us in todays world. Even though our country isnt that high on the list for education because other countries have better test scores and are more advanced in their technology. But everything in our society requires us to know so much about school. There are people in America who become very successful and never got a highschool diploma. Not saying imma drop out or anything but it makes you wonder why everrything in America is so based off our education.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we all have book smarts and we know a lot of things from the past and some foriegn languages that we may never use in life. Streets smarts are better than book smarts in my opinion because learning the ways of the streets is whats really gonna help you. Im not talking about doing illegal things but always knowing your surroundings and know how to judge the people around you. Some people who live on the streets are actually more smart than people who spend most of their time in class rooms. On the streets you learn from hearing stories from other people.
I agree with your opinion! You are totally right, the streets will help someone in the long run. People do pass down things that may help later in life. Great job, Raekwon!
DeleteExperience affects everyone. More knowledge is gained from experience than traditional books. Books are even made from experience. Books, such as a regular school book, help you in one formal subject. They focus on the one topic, whether it’s science, math, English, history, or anything. They make you aware, but not omniscient. Non-fictional may help one learn more, but it is again, in one subject matter. Look at a fictional book for side reading, or for fun. They are for enjoyment. They teach about dragons, myths, the hero, the villain, and so on. When dragons come and attack, let me know. Then it’ll come in handy. Otherwise, experience is the way to go.
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to experience, it’s real, as life is real. Fictional can capture a mind and take away to fantasy lands. When one lives in a fantasy land, life is NOT real. Life experiences help one learn in many matters. When it’s happening here and now, it’s real. When a criminal in a book breaks free from selling drugs, don’t expect the same in reality. In all likelihood, it’s not going to happen. When a fictional character doesn’t know how to do CPR, but it starts pressing on a character’s chest and they wake up, don’t expect it to save Grandpa as well. Books can teach wrong ideas, but life attempts to get the meaning across throughout 100 years…. Books rush through the magic of living in a few sit-downs, resulting in life to be expected the same. The magic is gone. Life is never gone until it has been chosen to do so. Life experience will help one learn better in the long run. Books are in a short term memory, life moments never leave.
I really liked your ideas in the first paragraph! You're completely right that all the knowelege in the world had to have come from someones first expieriences, or else how would anybody know? Good response to this question overall!
Delete“Not everything that is learned is contained in books” I believe that is a true statement, because not all books have all the information needed for someone to gain knowledge. We are human and learn from our mistakes not always from a book. Although books are useful when someone just wants to do a quick research on something or someone. For example if someone wants to do a paper on a famous person that passed away then a book is the best source to use unlike the internet because the information on certain sites of the internet isn’t always true. That is why books are very useful when trying to learn certain things but not all.
ReplyDeleteWe also learn from our own experience, whether it’s a bad or good experience. In life we need to make our mistakes if not we don’t learn unless we fail. What I mean with “we don’t learn unless we fail” is that sometimes we think we can achieve everything we want but since perfection doesn’t exist we do make our mistakes and that’s what helps us learn from our experience and mistakes. Also no book can tell you how you are going to feel exactly unless you go through the pain and experience it for yourself unlike what a book says you might feel. We as humans learn from our good and bad experience and that is what helps us gain knowledge whether it’s from a book or from one’s own experience.
You expressed your ideas very well in this blog post. I strongly agree that a book cannot tell an individual how they will feel unless they go through the experience themselves. Very good job!
DeleteReading books is one of the best ways to receive truthful information. I feel like when I receive the information from computers or movies it is a lot more detailed since I can see pictures and examples, but in books I feel as if the information is more reliable. Many people can just go onto the computer and states false facts, while in books they're usually just hard facts. I think books are more important when it comes to learning because they help with the way people read and write, too. Not only would someone be learning new facts, but they'll also learn proper grammar and punctuation.
ReplyDeletePeople can also have "street smarts". Being smart intellectually and being street smart and two completely different things. Both are very useful in my opinion. Street smarts can make people aware of the dangers in the real world, while book smarts can make someone successful in life and give them a job. I believe that people should have both of these smarts in order to be safe and successful.
i definitely agree with how books are more reliable. also, good idea with the grammar and punctuation. good job, well written emy
DeleteAlthough our views are different, your response was written well and I like your idea on "street smarts." Awesome job, Ms. Cody!
DeleteAll of the information to be found is mostly found in everyday living. Not exactly all in books. Life lessons are the most important kind of lessons, if we did not learn them, than we would think that everything wrong would be okay. You can learn this in books too of course, although it will not be the same lesson learned as to actually going through it. It is quiet like when one physically writes out their notes, compared to the teacher printing them out. There are also ways of learning from person to person. For example, I learned how to change automobiles oil.
ReplyDeleteEven most ways to learn things can be found outside of books, they will always be a good source of knowledge. Another good source of information is the internet. On the internet, you can find everything and anything. Sites such as Wikipedia and history.com contain valuable information, all available at a click. Furthermore, the most commonly used source of information is the internet, books are somewhat outdated not considering you can find them on the internet. All in all, books have become an old and un-needed source of information considering their physical size compared to a mouse and keyboard.
I like this response! Great job, you gave excellent reasons as to why life experiences are more important. Excellent work Jake (Denim Dan)!
DeleteAs we progress through life, we all go through experiences that change our viewpoint on something or just help us learn from past mistakes. Basically, it’s nearly impossible for one to experience life without those lessons that come along the way. Many like to share their experiences in literature or on the Internet to hopefully help others realize the important life lessoned learned form that experience. There are many published works of literature containing precious knowledge that could be used as an example for us to learn from. However, that’s the only tool books provide, examples. In order for the reader to fully benefit from the knowledge they are receiving, I believe one needs to experience it for them to truly understand what they are reading about. Going through it themselves will only help them think deeper and have a better understanding of how life works and the lessons that come along with it.
ReplyDeleteThe everyday lessons we receive while growing up is very vital. If one was to only gain knowledge from books, then they wont be able to say, “I went through something related to that” or share their own life experiences because they only read about it and that’s it. When an individual learns a lesson on their own, it has a much greater impact since they were the one who actually when through it. This will only benefit them in the future as they mature and progress on with life.
You had great points on how someone has to learn those important life lessons through just experience. I get what you mean when stated "Precious knowledge" because it is vitaly important to your lifeto get these lessons.
DeleteGreat job!
DeleteIn my opinion, the knowledge obtained from both books, and personal experience is important. A book teaches you information like math, history, science, etc., while street smarts teach you reality. I believe both are important, but I think book smarts are a little more important than experience knowledge. Knowing things from books are going to be more useful in life, in my opinion. Therefore, I think knowing things from books is more important to know, than the knowledge of experience.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, you will need books all throughout your life. Whether it’s for school, work, or even entertainment, books are always used. Also, you can never read “too” much, or learn “too” much from books, since there are so many different topics and books. However, there is only so much you can learn and know of “street smarts.” In addition, books give all sorts of hard evidence and statistics, while street smarts are mostly common sense. Also, the things in books are permanent and reliable, while street smarts knowledge can change and isn’t always true. All in all, I believe having the knowledge from books is more important than having street smarts.
Your points are very strong because they support your idea very well. I believe you did a great job in expressing your opinion to the reader. Overall, i thought your response was GREAT!
DeleteFor me life lessons are more important than the ones you learn in books. Life lessons are relatable and helps someone have a connection with the story of how they came to learn their valuable lesson. Vital lessons shouldn’t be learned from a fictional character because the things learned are going to play out very realistically in life. There are many pro things to learning from life itself. One thing is that when someone else needs to learn the lesson from someone else the details will have more vibrant meaning and will have a special place in the other person’s heart hopefully leaving a mark on them.
ReplyDeleteWhen teaching a lesson connecting with the other person is very important. In some peoples opinion they may connect with books more easily if they are not that social of a person or if they want to learn it from a favored fictional person. To truly connect with something it should happen to that person so they can always reflect on it and remember why that lesson was learned and when. Overall I do believe that life lessons should be learned from experience more than it should from books or stories.
I agree with your second paragraph. Connecting to the situation is very important when truly learning the lesson. Also I like how your first paragraph relates to "leaving a mark on them", I completely agree. Great Job.
DeleteBooks have been one of the basic tools of knowledge for many years now considering all we have from the past is what people have wrote down. In school we read and study from all different types of books in order to learn the basics of material that we must need to know in order to take our knowledge to a further level, however, I believe all books have their limits especially when it comes to the real world. There is only so far that a book can teach you, then it is up to other experiences and examples that help you understand it even further. Furthermore, not everyone’s experiences and situations are the same, so the book can no longer pertain to the situation and does the person no good. All in all, although books have the main group of information, sometimes even to most vital, it can only teach a person so much.
ReplyDeleteContrary to the fact that books have their limits, I believe that knowledge gained from experience is much more valuable. Books contain almost a “perfect” scenario, some almost too perfect for anyone to relate to. People almost always tend to truly learn a lesson after seeing someone close to them or even themselves go through a specific situation like drug abuse, bullying, and simply ways of going about things. Real life experiences tend to have a heavier impact on people imbedding the idea into their more than any book usually can. These real life experiences truly begin to teach the person what and what not to do in the end for future references.
Superb topic sentence! It's a great idea to use school as an example for knowledge in books. Even though
DeleteI have a different opinion about which source is more important, I completely see where and ho you stand! Good job :)
I have not read a lot of books in my life, but I have still learned a lot. Has what I learned come from books, or real experiences? Well, I believe that it has come from experiences. There are a lot of things that happen to people in real life that they learn from. We all learn that lying is bad when we lied to our parents about taking a cookie before dinner, and they found out when there was chocolate on our faces. We get punished by our parents, or at least I did, and we learn from it. Most parents nowadays don’t want to hurt their child when they do something bad. They feel like they are causing too much pain. However, when I got punished, I was spanked. And I never took a cookie and lied about it again. It worked, and my parents didn’t have to punish me as much. These types of things are things that we can’t learn from books. We have to figure it out for ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAlso, things like getting in a fight are things we can’t learn in books. When I was at a birthday party, I got in a fight. In the moment, it felt like a good idea. After all, my friend called me (a bad word) and I was so mad at him. If I knew the consequences of fighting him before hand, I would never have done it. But, I was stupid, and I did it anyway. After the fight, he cried, and went home. My dad grounded me for two weeks, and he was very mad at me. It was a horrible two weeks, and I also lost a friendship with the kid I fought. He never really talked to me again, and I felt bad. It was pretty sad because we were pretty good friends before that. These types of life lessons cannot be learned in books, or at least not as well. When it actually happens to yourself, it sticks in your head.
I agree to your examples and reasons. My favorite example was about the cookie. Great job!

ReplyDeleteKnowledge gained from anywhere is important and there for should be grasped indefinitely. However, the most common way knowledge is learned is through experience and books. Book knowledge comes through school, going to class, taking notes, and doing homework. All of that information is gained from book work. The notes and homework answers come straight from the textbook. The other form of way that knowledge is apprehended is through personal experience. Actually going to Africa and seeing the horrible living conditions really gives someone a different view then someone just reading it up in a book. I also feel when people live real experiences the knowledge is different. Experiencing moments can give new knowledge that a textbook cannot.
ReplyDeleteThere’s a saying “live and learn” and actually living your mistakes and remembering for next time stays with you longer than the equation to discover volume. Knowledge gained from experience is way more important. For example, if someone were to steal a pair of earrings and got caught, their consequences will be severe. Most of the time when people get caught doing something wrong they never do it again. The best way to learn is from your mistakes. The knowledge obtained usually sticks with the person longer. The knowledge that a student learns first hand will stay with them. However, a history fact about when someone’s wife died will leave a student’s mind quicker. The most important source to learn information from is through personal experience.
i agree with your view very strongly. i as well feel as though living from your mistakes can be just as helpful as learning straight out of a book.
DeleteIt has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Some people argue that the most useful knowledge is your experience; however, others have a much different opinion, believing that the knowledge in books is the most useful of the two. Everyday humans go through certain things that teach them certain knowledge. Personal experience can simply teach how to only solve certain problems and to figure out certain situations. As for books, reading a certain passage of a newspaper article or right out of a textbook, one could simply learn things that they might not be able to encounter in real life.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, learning from books is more useful. This analogy reminds me of people saying there is a difference between street smart and book smart. Street smart meaning, you have learned a lot from personal experience out in the world on know how to handle situation way beyond another’s experience. When I think of being book smart I simply consider that fact that when one reads more books, they absorb the most knowledge. From science to history, there are particular things that a person just can not come across on the side walks of their city. Also, books can guarantee to a certain degree a quantity of accuracy. I believe books contain and provide more knowledge.
Even though we have different views on this topic, I agree with you Sydney specially on the second paragraph, certain things can only be learned in books and books are more accurate. Good analogy and good job!
DeleteYour last paragraph is very strong! I am glad you gave the alternate opinion, so I could see your side of this topic. I too believe that learning through books and experience have two separate purposes! Miraculous response girl!
DeleteI loved how you stated your opinion in ways that are not too common. When you used analogies and examples to support your side of the situation, I was amazed with your work. I personally felt that your response was incredibly strong.
DeleteBooks and experience are both good in different ways. The truest knowledge can be gained by real experience because it is actually happening to you and you're going through that, besides without experience how could someone possibly write a book? Many books are writing by the knowledge the author gains from the experience. This is where books come in handy, the great thing about books is that you also gain knowledge in the sense that maybe you haven't gone through the same experience as someone else but since books are informative and available to us we can learn from other's experiences and gain more knowledge about something we don't know about.
ReplyDeleteI certainly view personal experience more important than books since they are just to many things that you just can't learn in books and that you have to deal with throughout your life. Books don't always have the answer to everything. Another reason is because now a days people aren't all interested in books, a lot of the stuff learned from school or books doesn't always stay with us and we forget that but it's different with experiences it's like a a tag it will always stay with you and you will always have it at the back of your head.
The quote, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books” is quite true. Poems, stories, books, and fairy tales all have a main point that the author wants his readers to learn. Such literary pieces give an example on how a character or several characters go through a specific life lesson. The difference between book’s life lessons and reality’s life lessons is that the reader is only experiencing one of the life lessons for themselves. In other words, books only offer an example on how one can learn such life lessons; it is not giving the reader a real experience on the topic. However, both books and real life experiences do teach a valuable life lesson.
ReplyDeleteKnowledge gained from experience is more important than knowledge gained from books. Like I said before, knowledge gained from experience is directly affected someone rather than just giving someone an example based on a life lesson. Experiencing something on one’s own will affect that person more deeply than from just reading a book.
Not everything can be learned by reading a book. For example, sometimes books can have a bias approach and not always give the reader the best information. A lot of times a real life physical experience is needed to be able to be skilled in an art or craft. For example, when it comes to instructions on building something such as a tent. Sometimes the instructions do not give the best amount of information to make the tent. What really helps is when the person tries it out and does it in a real life situation.
ReplyDeleteThe knowledge in a book can also be really helpful as well. For example, is wanting to know a historical fact. It is currently impossible to go back to Lincoln's time and see exactly how things went back then. Our best chance of knowledge is what we will find by reading a book. Without a book on how those times were and how Lincoln took charge we would be unable to know anything that is from the past.
I agree with every detail you explained within your response. Your explanations and details were put together so well that I understood exactly what you were trying to explain throughout both of your paragraphs.
DeleteBooks and real life experiences are two different worlds. In books, typically information is learned through examples, words, analogies, pictures and personal connections and evaluations. Experience is first hand, malleable and definitely tangible. Whether it is a textbook or a literature book, valuable lessons and purposes can be taken away from the material. One might learn how to do something, or be persuaded to have a different view on a particular thing. In everyday situations, scenarios seem to be analyzed the same way but in a different process. A mistake is made, the lesson is recognized and one seems to remember this experience for quite a long time. Often, authors of books may have different opinions and their bias views are portrayed through their words. When one experiences things through actions, they get to form their own opinions, reactions and feelings towards this learning time. Books are great for learning specific material that may be hard to conclude on and understand in experiences while real life scenarios do the exact opposite.
ReplyDeleteReal life learning experiences are more effective and important than books. Learning a lesson first hand, in a front row seat can become easily engraved in one’s mind. Often, textbook information or printed sources do not have the same affect. These experiences can almost be equal to memories but, they also include a lesson or a reason. For example, when I was a little girl I must have read about ten stories over and over again about why it was important to be cautious from strangers, specifically The Little Red Riding Hood. I was the type of person who had to learn everything “the hard way”. Years later as I played in my front yard, an older man in a car leaned out of his window and asked me to give him directions. I was terrified and ran inside. Quickly, I understood the concept and the light bulb went off about why it was so important to be careful of who you spoke to. Events that relate to any previous lessons one has learned seem to drill the lesson further into one’s head. These events also include more detail and more relatable scenes that also make the information being learned easier to comprehend. Learning experiences through actions and events are extremely reassuring learning tactics.
Bella, I really do like your first paragraph! I think you show great examples for how they are both different. I Also enjoyed your second paragraph! I think Explaining something that happened to you only Made your paragraph stronger. Overall great job Bella!
DeleteAlthough it is profitable to know information that comes from a book, it is also important to have your own life experiences that teach you lessons. It is more important to experience things for yourself than to read about it in a book. For example, when students go off to college, they gain a very life changing experience. They learn how to live on their own, buy their own food/clothes, and to resist peer pressure. If a young adult wanted to learn about the “college experience,” they would learn it a lot better by actually going to college, than reading about it in a book. Someone may think that they’ll be able to resist the negative temptations of college life that they read about, but when they actually get there, their outlook could completely change.
ReplyDeleteIn addition to college, experiences as simple as riding a bike or tying your shoes take practice and ability. I am sure that a five year old learning to ride a bike for the first time would learn faster by just doing it, than studying the techniques in a book. People learn lessons from their life experiences a lot easier than they learn a biology lesson from their Science textbook. For instance, if a student doesn’t do their homework, they get detention after school. No one wants to stay after school in detention, so the next day that student is sure to remember to do their homework. (Life lesson learned). However, if a student doesn’t understand the science lesson, they have to reread the chapter several times, ask their teacher several questions, and may even have to go in the morning or after school for extra help. Students have to go through all that trouble just to learn something out of a book. For these reasons, I believe knowledge gained from life experiences are more important than knowledge gained from books.
Education learned by humans today is retained in two familiar ways. First of all, the knowledge of a person can increase by reading specific types of books. When people are educated through books, they learn about specific topics studied. For instance, when learning from books, science, math, english, history, and even writing are learned. Books help people to improve on the school-related skills that they are capable of doing. However, knowledge gained from experience also exists. This helps more with the common sense needed in the everyday lives of people of all ages. For example, when in danger, people are supposed to call for help. That would be a use of common sense. When going through experiences related to this one, people would have an increase on the common sense that they personally have. They would then be educated on what and what not to do when in certain situations.
ReplyDeleteOverall, knowledge from experience is more important. It is because of the fact that a life could be saved with just using your mind. Without learning from personal experiences, both children and adults would have to face their lives struggling because of how they would not have knowledge on how to take action in different situations. There would be no education involving how to live and to stay safe. It is extremely important to learn from mistakes or experiences that have and will take place in our lives.
The quote, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books” is true. How i see it,its true, books not always have everything that you want to know or learned. Books can be good and helpful, for homework, history, etc. They teach you many things and also help you see the world different. They also are going to be useful in the future. Even though books have been one of the basic tools of knowledge for many years, they don't always have everything that you need.
ReplyDeleteExperiences are the ones that teach you how the real world is. I certainly think that personal experience is more important than books because they are just too many things that you just can't learn in books and you can learn them by doing something in your life. Also because you learn how to do them yourself , to learn how to be brave and do you own thing. Books won't help a lot only to now things but not experiences. i believe that experiences are better than books and also that you can learn more with experiences.
Knowledge can be gained from almost anywhere. However, there are two major sources that knowledge can be obtained. The first category being called "book knowledge". This category includes education through the means of books, noted, attending classes, and completing homework. The second category would be knowledge from experience. This kind of knowledge is used during everyday life. Common sense is a prime example of what type of situations knowledge from experience would be useful in. Being able to decipher between what is acceptable is also something that could be learned from knowledge by experience.
ReplyDeleteKnowledge that is learned from experience is by far the more useful and important out of the two categories. To a degree, knowledge from books will carry a person through life. However, one can not recite facts in every situation. If a person doesn't have a sense of what is right or wrong, they can not rely on facts to correct the situation. Without being equipped with the ability to reflect on knowledge gained by experience, many people would be lost in life.
Someone once said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books." First hand experience is much different than knowledge from a book. Although a book may be more informational and detailed, it does not give the actual life lessons that an individual may experience first hand. In literature, people read books that have usually a moral at the end. Although you are reading about the lesson that is taught, people have to remember that they are the reader, and it is happening to the character. Until you go through the experience yourself, it is difficult to really understand how it feels or means.
ReplyDeleteFor example, in the short story, "Marigolds", the main character struggled as a young girl with family challenges such as her father losing his job and mother never being home. She feared her family was experiencing poverty. In her anger she destroyed her neighbor's beautiful marigolds. After she destroyed the flowers she was filled with regret because she realized she took away something that was important to someone else. The character began to feel compassion for her neighbor because of the effect it had on her neighbor. This compassion changed the character to be a better person.
In this short story, although a good moral story, it would probably not impress a reader enough to now develop compassion. This feeling comes from a life experience such as helping someone in need or having hurt someone and realize your own mistake. In my opinion, life experience is knowledge that is most impactful first hand.
Knowledge is something we all need in life in order to have a productive lifestyle. Whether it be knowledge from books and or articles and things of that nature or knowledge from experience we all need it. If some say that knowledge can only be found through text, they may be right on some levels, although there are many things in this world that we must learn from our very own personal experiences. Gaining knowledge from personal experiences is very important because many things can’t be found in books and in text so we must learn from our own faults to know what is truly right and truly wrong. Personal experiences and experiences with others is a huge factor in learning things, we may learn things that we can’t learn in books, but only through our mind and thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThough it may seem that personal experiences have a huge impact on knowledge, books and text also has a huge role in our knowledge. Books have a wide variety of topics, from sports, school subjects, common logic or sense; books have many things that we can learn. Although books don’t always explain things and we must figure them out on our own, they play a major part in knowledge. Without books we wouldn’t be able to have learned a large part of our already existing knowledge. Books and text have taught us many things we need to know in life yet so have personal experiences. Therefore, each one teaches us great amounts of knowledge.
I completely agree with you. You can never clearly tell weather books or experience are more needed in life. It seems like both are needed to succeed.
Deleteknowledge can be gained in many ways. reading books, reading article, or even asking someone you can gain a massive amount of knowledge. many people say that books always provide you with the best information. knowledge can also be found in texts and the internet. now a days you can research anything you want to learn about and find true information. there are wed pages where you can always go and expect to get the right knowledge all the time. on like some web pages where you can change details and write your own opinions the information on those sites are check by professionals to get the right answers.
ReplyDeletewe can also learn a lot from personal knowledge of thing you may have done in the past when a problem shows itself again in your life.although, when a conflict represents itself your brain already has the knowledge and answer to get out of the situation. thing such as this cant be learned from books. nor gained though any saurce but by living the situation and learning from experience. although they teach you thing that you might find helpful they don't teach what to do and how to do it. for these reasons books and texts arent always the best saurces to find knowledge but living and experiencing.
Knowledge is important and can be learned in many ways. Some ways are books, TV, articles, and even the internet. Now I know teachers and other adults say books are the best information but you also have to consider that the internet has the same knowledge that books have. But on the internet u can find it twice has fast in a book. Thats why i feel that books are becoming used less and less everyday.
ReplyDeletewe can also learn a lot from old people like adults. For example, my grandfather was one of the smartest and dumbest people I know before he pasted away. I say this because he teach me a lot of important thing in life but yet he couldn't read and he wasn't book smart. He was street smart. For example, he never finished middle school and high school. But he was one of the smartest person i knew because he taught me how to save money and how to fight and how to make money. Now all this stuff he taught me he didn't read in a book or look on the internet he taught me this because he learned it from this past and he pasted it down to me.

ReplyDeleteHave you ever had a close experience to death? The type where you appreciate the smallest things in life, like just being able to blink. Well there no book that will ever make you feel a close call like that. The experience will always be in head. It will act as a scar and one your back in the situation you hen self consciously you will swerve out of danger.
ReplyDeleteBooks don't give you the feel , nor the personal scar to get it stuck in your head. They have information they will prevent you from making the mistake in the first place. But you will make mistakes because the information won't stick as well , as if it was an actually life experiences. For example what you do when you were at war. No book is going to give you the play by play. Only the experience will get you through it
This is a really good response. I like it , and excellent atention graver on your topic sentence
DeleteIn my opinion there's no need for books any more in the world. With the technology we have now a book that's 200 pages is now in a tablet that bearly weights anything. Technology has defiantly taken over the world. Littelry you can find what ever you want on google. Any information you need just google it and tons and tons of information of the topic would come up. For me I'm thankful that technology was invented, I would be able to read too many books to learn. if I'm having travel for example in history, and were learning of Marther Luther king jr I can just turn on my computer or go on my phone and type in Marther Luther king jr ill get so much information I won't have any trouble learning about him.
ReplyDeleteI seriously think that technology is going to take over the whole world in a few years. There won't be need of teachers any more. Even thought you can still learn from books it would take way to long. When u can just type on ur computer what you need help with and it would pop up in matter of seconds. When if learn from books you would have to read so much to find something u can find in less then a minute.
From reading books, people can learn a lot, but experience also teaches many things too. For instance, when you do something wrong you learn from experience so the next time you do the activity again, you won't make the same mistake twice. I personally have experienced a fault in a task i was attempting. I was learning to triple jump and I just couldn't get it right. Soon, I watched my older sister do it and I learned how to jump the correct way instead of the wrong way, which is what I was doing.
ReplyDeleteBooks can teach people a lot, but there are just some things you can't read about. For instance, you can read about skydiving and how other people felt when they've done it, but that doesn't help you. Until you perform the task you are reading about, you are never legitimately experiencing how big of a thrill it really is. I can tell you that falling out of a plane and pulling out a parachute is scary, but you won't really know how it is because you've never done it. Instead of scary, you might think of it as thrilling and energizing. Overall, books are important, but experience teaches you more.
It is often that when people experience something they remember it longer than opposed to reading about it in a book. Experiencing something does help you remember it more. It even can teach a valuable lesson. Learning something from experience also is more appealing than from a book. Most people don't like reading so maybe it is difficult for them to obtain the knowledge that they just learned.
ReplyDeleteYes, books may teach about something that we don't necessarily use or do in this society anymore, but the experience helps even more. I believe that experience is more important because you often remember it more. For example,if i was reading about a science lab, i would obtain the knowledge. But it is much different than actually experiencing it. I can learn by doing than opposed to reading. I also would rather do something than to just read it in a book.
Books help you learn more imformation. (BOOKS= Knowledge!!) It helps you think and analyze thoughts. Books also teach you how to read forgein languages and understand them. Before there was computers, there was only books. They used books to write down imformation and to pass time. Everyone used books because it was like there computer. It hold personal imformation and knowledge.
ReplyDeleteFor example, books like the dictionary hold a lot of information. They hold the definition of the words. So this helps you understand more on what you read. But there are also books that tell stories. There are books, that are fiction (not real) and non fiction books (real). these tell interesting stories.
